Meanwhile, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) returns and finds her daughter in bad shape. The actress discussed Bernie’s return and what fans can expect in the next few weeks.

Corrie spoilers reveal Gemma will finally confess how she has been struggling when her mom shows up. The young mother of quadruplet babies will explain that she constantly worries about her children, especially with one of them being diagnosed as deaf. Then, there is the fact that she’s barely slept in weeks and her “friends” will turn out not to be friends at all.

If that weren’t enough, Gemma and the babies will nearly get hit by a car, which only increases her feelings of inadequacy. It will all lead up to Gemma having an emotional breakdown and her mental health will deteriorate.

Corrie Spoilers: Bernie Winter’s Concern

Speaking to Digital Spy, Hazlegrove explained that Bernie will be devastated after learning how much her daughter is going through. She will encourage Gemma to talk to her doctor. However, the doctor can only help if Gemma is completely honest about the severity of her symptoms. Plus, it is teased that she doesn’t want Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) to know about her depression.

Coronation Street spoilers reveal Bernie gets a phone call from Gemma. The young woman claims that everything is fine, but Bernie can tell by her voice that something isn’t right.

“Whatever tiny bit of maternal instinct that Bernie’s got has suddenly been heightened and she comes back to do what she can.”

When Bernie walks into Gemma’s home, she isn’t necessarily surprised by its condition. After all, Gemma has four babies to take care of. However, she knows that all is not well with the new mother.

Bernie is going to feel guilty about how low Gemma is feeling. She will kick herself for not seeing the warning signs sooner. Hazlegrove added,

It’s time for Bernie to stop being selfish and be selfless, which is something Bernie hasn’t done before.”
