‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers: Izzy Armstrong Confronts Linda Over Joseph’s Decision

Coronation Street” spoilers have teased an upcoming dispute between Izzy Armstrong and returnee mother Linda over her decision to bring grandchild Joseph abroad.

Izzy (Cherylee Houston) will confront her mother Linda (Jacqueline Leonard), who’s been away from the cobbles for six years, after she suggests bringing the youngster Joseph (William Flanagan) to live with her in Portugal after learning his recent disappearance story.

This is because Linda gets to see the hardships of the Chesney-Brown family to supply their daily needs, with the patriarch Chesney (Sam Aston) having to feed five children, in her surprise return to Weatherfield.

If it not for Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) mentioning Joseph’s recent horror, Linda wouldn’t have known about the child’s kidnapping ordeal. She offers help to the family by revealing she’s staying longer to support them, especially with Joseph’s school fees.

In upcoming scenes, Linda pays Joseph’s fee at his school’s activity and the gleam of joy in the child’s eyes is evident as he heads off there with his granny. However, this development irks rival grandmother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) who confides with Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) that she dislikes her. Will she stir more problems to jeopardize the relationship between the two?

However, the family can’t deny their problems anymore when two of the quads fall ill and Linda believes the safest place Joseph could be is by her side. She suggests he stay with her at the posh hotel and later takes a step forward by saying she wants to bring him to Portugal for a better life.

Coronation Street spoilers show Chesney gets angry with her idea, ordering her to stay away from his son from then on but the concerned granny asks the child about his decision. Joseph gets to decide for himself when he overhears his parents talking about working overtime for him, which he misinterprets they no longer want him.

Izzy gets word of the news and clashes with her mother for trying to take Joseph away from No.5, which leads Bernie to hate her rival even more. However, the struggling family receives devastating news when Joseph announces he wants to live with grandmom Linda which prompts his dad Chesney to beg him to reconsider.

It remains a secret on how Izzy will return to the cobbles since actress Cherylee Houston has been shielding since March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The actress struggles with a rare connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos and reappeared in the soap in 2021 with her brief stint via video call to highlight the struggles of disabled workers in these trying times.

The Coronation Street actress has told the media she felt that the disabled community has been really forgotten in the pandemic.

“It’s terrifying that people are being forced to go back to work or lose their jobs. If you’re in that position, there are no benefits available because you’ve chosen to lose your job. If you’re a frontline worker or a low-paid worker, you have no choice and that discussion has never happened,” she told Digital Spy.

“What’s phenomenal about Corrie and what we do, is that we tell those stories,” she added.
