Coronation Street Spoilers: Jennie McAlpine Previews Fiz’s Actions To Protect Hope

Coronation Street spoilers and updates tease that Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) will go to prison as she tries to protect her daughter Hope Stape (Amelia Flanagan) for the role she played in the fire that injured Alina.

Fans know that Hope started to get jealous when Tyrone Dobb’s (Alan Halsall) attention shifted to Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) and their unborn baby. Hope felt like Tyrone didn’t value her after he found out that he was having a baby boy with Alina. She said it was unfair that the baby would be with Tyrone all the time. So, she decided to take the keys to Alina’s flat.

She sneaked into Alina’s flat and thought nobody was home. Later on, Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) saw the flat on fire and Alina was being rushed to the hospital. Fiz and Tyrone believe that it was Hope who started the fire.

Coronation Street – Hope Stape Admits To Starting The Fire

In upcoming scenes, Fiz will take the blame for the fire and will spend a night in jail. Meanwhile, Tyrone will heed Alina and Evelyn Pullman’s (Maureen Lipman) advice that Hope will put herself and others in danger if she doesn’t get professional help. So, Tyrone will go to the police to inform them that Hope was responsible.

Hope will come clean that she tried to set the cot on the flat on fire but will say that she didn’t want anyone to get hurt. However, Hope will be charged and may face a trial.

Coronation Street – Jennie McAlpine’s Take On Fiz Stape’s Decision

In an interview with This Morning, Fiz’s portrayer, Jennie McAlpine explained why her alter-ego decided to protect her daughter.

“The only thing that she planned were the sandwiches that she was making for the journey. Apart from that, she has no idea what she is doing,” said the actress.

McAlpine added that Fiz feels desperate, especially now that she’s on her own and Tyrone is with another woman and starting their own family. Now that she’s confirmed that Hope was responsible for the fire, she knows that her daughter has done something serious. All she wants is to protect her daughter but she doesn’t have a plan.

Some fans think that taking the rap for Hope is the worst thing she could do as a parent. But that’s the problem. Parents will do anything for their kids but is going to jail for Hope the right thing to do?

“She loves her little girl. I think if it was a choice between Fiz going to prison or Hope going to a youth offenders’ unit… She would do anything for her kids,” the actress said.
