Coronation Street Spoilers: Ken Barlow Tells Peter and Tracy That He’s Leaving The Cobbles

Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) drops a bombshell on his children, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). He tells them that he’s decided to buy a place within the Still Water complex and move out of the cobbles.

Ken, Claudia, Tracy, and Peter Meet Up At Rovers Return

Ken and his girlfriend Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) arranges a meeting with Peter and Tracy at Rovers Return for an important announcement. He tells his kids that he and Claudia plans to move to Still Waters.

But before the revelation, the siblings had something else in mind about the sudden meeting. Tracy thought that they are planning to get married while Peter believed that Ken might confess that he is dying.

When they found out what it was all about, the discussion got a bit frosty. Peter became concerned about the possibility of Ken selling No. 1. If that happens, where will he and Simon live? They’ve got nowhere to go.

Tracy was taken aback by the celebration and demanded that they talk things through first.

“Yeah, hang on a minute, this is a big deal, this. Are you gonna be buying together? Who inherits when you die? This needs talking about,” Tracy said.

Ken then reassured them he wasn’t sure what to do just yet. Of course, Claudia is left disappointed, while Tracy thought that her father won’t actually move out of the cobbles.

Roache’s Take On Ken’s Decision To Move Out

In an interview, Roache said that “In some ways he thinks it is now or never. He has lived on the same street his whole life and in the same house for most of it.”

“He feels that he had a chance to move away with Martha on the barge but he let her go. Part of him regretted that,” he continued.

“He doesn’t want to make the same mistake again and Claudia is very persuasive. Filming that final scene of the episode was very poignant, just Ken and Eccles and the cobbles,” the actor added.

Ken’s decision to move into a retirement complex with Claudia was revealed during the soap’s 10,000th episode. Fans don’t have to worry since the actor will only be leaving the cobbles and not the show.

Ken isn’t going anywhere. He’s just starting a new life with Claudia at Still Waters and viewers will see their adventures together.
