Coronation Street Spoilers: Norris Cole Set To Return To Corrie As Rita Tanner’s New Storyline Kicks Off

On “Coronation Street,” Malcolm Hebden is set to reprise his role as Norris Cole as the show kicks off Rita Tanner’s (Barbara Knox) storyline. Later this month, Norris will return to the cobbles when Rita realizes that she has no friends left in town.

Upcoming episodes will see Rita prepare for her Edinburg to visit Emily Bishop (Eileen Derbyshire) trip only to realize that she’s supposed to look after Mrs. MacElroy’s cat. She tries to find someone to do the task while she’s away.

Unfortunately, her trip will be canceled as Emily twisted her ankle. Later, she talks to Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) and says she no longer has friends in Weatherfield. She then contacts The Kabin to ask if she can return to work since she’s no longer going to Edinburg. However, Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) says they’ve already hired Gail Platt (Helen Worth) as her replacement.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Norris Cole Meets Rita Tanner For A Cup of Tea

Norris will appear later on when he agrees to meet her for a cup of coffee. However, he said he can’t stay long since he needs to see Freeda Burgess (Ali Briggs) later.

Soap Boss Iain MacLeod has previously talked about bringing Norris back if the actor’s schedule permits.

“Norris is not leaving the show, we just thought that given the circumstances that we find ourselves in, it made sense to put a family in number three,” he clarified.

“It’s certainly not the end of Norris. Definitely in Norris’s case the hope on my part, and I think on his, is that we can bring him back in for good,” he explained.

Corrie Spoilers – Rita Tanner Feels Alone and Lonely

Rita will continue to feel lonely and empty. In the run-up to Christmas, the character is set to get involved in a devastating storyline.

Rita is “Coronation Street’s” second longest-serving character, following Ken Barlow (William Roache). Knox’s alter ego will tell other residents in the cobbles that she plans to go away for Christmas. So, nobody goes looking for her after she falls while putting up fairy lights and getting trapped for several days under her Christmas tree. Fortunately, a neighbor finds her by chance and helps her escape.

Coronation Street Spoilers – ITV Sources Drop Hints

According to an ITV source, “Dev puts up the Christmas tree for Rita but doesn’t have time to sort the fairy lights.”

“She ends up putting the lights on herself but when switching them on she trips and falls, pulling the tree on top of her,” the source continued.

“Spending Christmas alone is a scenario many OAPs may find themselves in a few weeks,” the insider added.

The soap hopes that Rita’s storyline will highlight how lonely some of the elderly feel during the festive season.
