It’s been only so recent that young Sam (Jude Riordan) has started talking to the Weatherfield residents after suffering from mutism due to grieve caused by the untimely demise of his mother Natasha (Rachel Leskovac). Her playmate Hope (Isabella Flanagan) helped him in coping with the loss by talking to him via walkie-talkie while Mary (Patti Clare), together with Roy (David Neilson), taught the child how to play Chess where he can divert his attention into.

To encourage Sam of learning more, Mary used to give way for him to win. On the opposite, Roy never minimized Sam as his foe so he plays with him fairly, thinking that Sam will have more confidence in himself for every win. This previously worried Sam’s father Nick (Ben Price) that his son would’ve taken his defeat to heart and in upcoming scenes, he’ll get overly concerned for him again as Roy defeats the schoolboy in another game.

Sam is excited to battle against the soap’s iconic café owner, making sure he can apply the tricks he learned in the book. But when he gets defeated, he storms out of the cafe, which worries Roy he might go back to being silent. Will Roy win back Sam? How will the other residents react?

‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Guilt Taking Over?

Corrie viewers knew the reason Roy desperately left the cobbles last year to go abroad after his conscience won’t let him sleep. He felt he was in a way responsible for Natasha’s death after he realized that the gun Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) used to threaten Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), ended up in the hand of the drug lord Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) which he shot Natasha in a mistaken identity. Roy felt guilty for lying to the police about Abi and until now their secrets are still sealed.
