The duo has been at odds even when Tim was still in the hospital with their contradicting ideas on how to celebrate Tim’s birthday. However, it was only the beginning of Sally’s nightmare as her husband Tim (Joe Duttine) milks Elaine’s (Paula Wilcox) offer to stay with them at No.4 until he’s fully recovered.
Understandably, it did not delight Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) given that they have new household rules set by Elaine to take care of her son following his triple bypass surgery. Elaine has been taking over Sally’s role as a caring wife, on the look 24/7 for Sally’s mistake to nag about how to do things properly.
Elaine’s bell gift to Tim infuriated Sally as the former volunteered to be her son’s slave that every time he rings the bell, she’s there to serve him right away. Elaine drew the line, assuring Sally she need not worry about Tim and can go on with how she usually lives her life.
For a while, Sally bit her tongue to give the mother and son their alone time, given that they were deprived of that due to their dark past with Elaine’s abusive ex-husband, Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew).
However, Sally is about to get choked up about the idea of living with her mother-in-law for the next six to eight weeks so she takes the matter into her hands, jeopardizing Elaine’s relationship with Tim.

‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – It’s A Prank!
In scenes set to air on February 11, Elaine arranges a movie night for them and Sally pulls a prank on her. She suggests they watch “Terms of Endearment,” pretending that it’s Tim’s favorite film.
However, Elaine shames herself when Tim and his pal Steve (Simon Gregson) look horrified when she announces what she’s prepared. The 1983 film “Terms of Endearment” shows a relationship with an overbearing mother and an anxious daughter who later rebelled against her mother’s ideals. Although the characters reconciled, the daughter was later diagnosed with terminal cancer, which makes the atmosphere at No.4 more awkward.

Sally’s portrayer soap star Sally Dynevor just recently received her prestigious MBE award at the Windsor Castle on February 2 for her services to drama for playing her character for 36 years.
