Coronation Street Spoilers: Steve Sabotages Amy’s Independent Life With Jacob

Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that protective father Steve McDonald will get desperate in order to persuade daughter Amy to come home.

Amy’s (Elle Mulvaney) revelation about pursuing his romance with the outcast Jacob Hay (James Ryan) rocks Steve (Simon Gregson) and his family. Despite the warning and educating Amy about her beau’s past mistakes, Simon fails to persuade her to cut ties with the former drug dealer.

This week, she arranges lunch at the bistro with her boyfriend in tow to face her disapproving parents to officially announce that they are in love. Leanne (Jane Danson) spots them all and understandably gets furious at the view. Amy’s mom Tracy (Kate Ford) threatens to leave but Simon asks her to reconsider Amy’s wish now that she’s of legal age.

But upcoming scenes will show Simon trying to disrupt Amy’s life with Jacob as the couple agrees to have a fresh start away from her family. How low will Steve go?

Happening on Monday, March 21, Steve will talk sense with Ken (William Roache) about his decision to release the money from late Deirdre’s trust fund (Anne Kirkbride) to support Amy for her university education. This happens after the schoolgirl persuades her grandfather to fund her needs when she shows him the budget she’s come up with, impressing him she’s serious about adulting.

Steve advances his plans to let Amy suffer while living with Jacob so that she can realize she still needs her family by cutting her source of income. When he learns that Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) has provided Amy with a job at the Kebab house, he guilt trips him about Jacob and points out she’s living with the despised man. Will Dev take back his job opportunity?

Steve’s portrayer actor Simon Gregson previously teased that Amy’s decision “will definitely cause fractures within the family”, especially to Simon (Alex Bain), Leanne, and even Peter (Chris Gascoyne).

He pointed out to Digital Spy that Steve understands Amy is a “woman” now but in terms of his concerns as a parent, he is upset because he wants what is best for her, and Jacob doesn’t qualify.
