Next week on the ITV soap, a police officer informs Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that his ex-partner Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) has passed away. Tyrone, who was a victim of abuse by his police officer ex-lover, is seen appalled especially that their child Ruby Dobbs (Macy Alabi) has never seen her birth mother.
Kirsty, played by Natalie Gumede, left the soap in 2013 after rocking the Cobbles for two years for abusing her boyfriend physically and emotionally. They started dating in 2011 and she gave birth to Ruby in 2012.
But just like how Tyrone cheated on Fiz with new-lover Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu), he had a secret affair with Fiz which made Kirsty even more abusive. Tyrone attempted to take Ruby away, but Kirsty tried to fight him. However, it ended with her falling down the stairs, and Tyrone was framed up as an abuser.
Their fight ended in court when Kirsty had a change of heart and admitted her crimes after Tyrone was wrongfully imprisoned. She then told Tyrone never to cross paths with her again.
“Coronation Street” Spoilers — Tyrone Dobbs Finds Comfort In Fiz Stape
Next week, Alina buys Tyrone a new motorbike, but this father-of-two fails to pass the driving test, leaving his young lover disappointed.
Fiz, who continues to struggle after their break-up, mocks her ex for his misfortune. Wanting to make things peaceful between them, Tyrone books a meditation session for the two.
But instead of finding peace, a police officer knocks on the door to relay the tragedy. Instead of calling Alina for comfort, Tyrone confides with Fiz, asking for help on how to tell baby Ruby of her birth mother’s passing.
With Ruby grieving over her real mom’s death, this means Tyrone could be spending more time with his former family to comfort his daughter. It seems like Kirsty’s death will reunite the iconic couple. Is this the end for Tyrone and Alina?
Ruxandra Porojnicu, a Romanian-born, admitted that she thought everybody is going to hate her for breaking one of the strongest couples in the soap.
“I was very excited about the storyline and thought what a great opportunity it would be to work with two brilliant actors. But as a viewer I was gutted, because I really love Fiz and Tyrone together. I was really torn about it all,” she told The Sun.
The actress appeared in the soap two years ago with the modern slavery storyline and became a regular after her impressive act in working in a nail bar after falling to trafficking.
“I feel so privileged to have been given such a big storyline. I also feel proud to be representing my country. I’ve had a lot of people say how good it is Corrie is showing diversity with my character and it’s important for television to show that,” she added.
