Coronation Street Spoilers – Leanne Battersby Faces Rowan Cunliffe In Court

Institute leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper) and Leanne (Jane Danson) are set to clash in the courtroom this week, as a result of fraud and blackmail charges.

Having been sucked into the cult-like Altovalent Institute by Rowan, Leanne soon discovers that Rowan keeps files on all the members and is using it to gain leverage over them.

For example, Rowan is using Leanne’s fiance Nick (Ben Price) and her sister Toyah’s (Georgia Taylor) affair to threaten Nick into allowing Leanne to invest their own savings into the Institute.

You could say it was a double dose for Leanne to find out about the cheating scandal and Rowan’s unworthy ways. However, she remains resolute she can bring Rowan to justice for the sake of herself and Amy.

“I just think she just feels a bit of a fool, really,” Jane Danson told Back to the Bay. “This is kind of the start of her trying to prove herself, her decisions and why she did what she did.”

“Leanne says this lovely speech at the trial, where she’s just saying how sorry she was for everything she’s done, but she just she was striving to be better. She wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. And in the middle of that, obviously Nick and Toyah got together and all fell apart.”

“I think ultimately she just feels bad for Amy because she lost all her inheritance,” Jane continued.

“She’s just trying to repair all the damage that’s been caused by all the stuff that’s been played out with The Institute over the past year. This is climax to all that in a way but it does open up some doors to some other things.”

Rowan has a natural gift of getting under people’s skin, and his smug grin during the proceedings proves too much for Leanne who lashes out in front of the courtroom.

“In true Leanne style, she speaks first and engages her brain later. I like her when she goes back to the essence of the character that we first met all those years ago – that’s who she is inside, no matter what she tries to do.”

“Everyone’s told her what to do and how to behave at the trial, but this is her chance to have her voice and explain. So this ends up being her right to reply.” The million-dollar question is: has Rowan managed to get Leanne to jeopardize her case?

Coronation Street Spoilers –  Leanne Battersby’s Revenge On Nicky  Wheatley And Toyah Battersby

Oh yeah, don’t think that Leanne can’t multitask because she definitely can. On one hand she’s trying to legally bring Rowan to justice, on the other she’s filled with rage after discovering that Nicky and Toyah have decided to carry on with their relationship.

Now, she’s playing the long game, with the end goal of destroying the relationship with a smug grin on her face, possibly.

“To find out that their affair is continuing – basically, she’s at the end of her rope,” Jane explained. “Toyah has kind of taken out her whole life from Leanne and she resents that hugely.”

“She’s playing with them both. She’s making Nick feel even more guilty, and almost trying to get a confession out of him. When she really makes a play for him and he still doesn’t cave, she’s like, ‘Right! I’ll show you both!’.”

Let’s just say that there’ll be a lot of scheming coming from Leanne against Nicky and Toyah, and they’re not all petty.
