Coronation Street spoilers for the week of February 23 tease Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) is arrested, while Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) gets sad news.
Plus, Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) recently returned sister Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) has yet another secret!
Bernie Hits Her Limit Of Mal Roper
Next week, Bernie hits her limit when she tells stalker Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) to leave Weatherfield. This leads to serious consequences as he is later found badly beaten.
Is Bernie to blame? Dev and Asha Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin, Tanisha Gorey) go for father-daughter time, unaware of the trouble brewing back in town.
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) goes to the bank, leaving Bernie alone with Mal, who quickly locks the café door and opens up to her. Bernie rejects him, and his mood shifts to something threatening.
Bernie Threatens Mal
Later, Bernie is shocked to find her head cut out of her wedding photo; she confronts Mal about the vandalism, but he pretends not to know.
When Tracy McDonald (Kate Ford) mentions Ken Barlow (William Roache) needing an electrician, Roy suggests Mal; Bernie warns Tracy to stay away, confusing her boss.
Later, jumpy from every noise, Bernie grabs a golf club when someone knocks- only to find her son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
She admits to her mistake with Mal and the chaos that followed-Mal then bursts into the café, yelling at Bernie in public until Roy intervenes and kicks him out. Bernie doesn’t notice a passerby as she warns Mal that if he doesn’t back off, she’ll kill him.
Bernie’s Arrested!
He laughs at her, saying he’s staying-the next day, at the station, Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) tells Kit about a man with a head injury; Kit looks at the file and turns pale-it’s Mal.
Bernie shows up with her bags, and Kit goes to the hospital where doctors say he’s critical. DC Browning (uncredited) quickly arrives with handcuffs and arrests Bernie for assault; in jail, Bernie tells Kit she’s innocent.
During the interview, she admits to spending a night with Mal- just friends, she says-and claims he’s been stalking her since. It’s her word against his… if he survives to speak.
Steve’s Sad News
Steve learns that his dad, Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson), is very ill, and he thinks about visiting him. Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) notices Steve’s growing friendship with Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and jokes that Tim might feel left out.
They laugh about it until serious news arrives in Weatherfield: Jim’s landlord demands £1,800 in unpaid rent and names Steve as the guarantor. To make matters worse, Steve hears from one of Jim’s army friends that Jim is in the hospital and may not recover.
Cassie Encourages Steve To See His Dad, While Tracy Discourages Him
Cassie encourages him to visit, but Tracy reminds him of the chaos Jim caused over the years; with a dead battery ruining his plans, Ben offers to drive him.
In the hospital parking lot, Steve hesitates, realizing this might be his last chance to see his dad or just another regret.
Later, Ben invites Steve and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) to a Weathy County event with free tickets, and they leave the Rovers excited.
As they go, Steve doesn’t notice Jim is trying to call-the next morning, Steve wakes with a hangover and decides he’s done trying to connect with a father who was never there.
He feels he has everything he needs with his loving partner and daughter, unaware of the big surprise Cassie is planning for him.
Jodie Rebuffs Carl, As Debbie Sends Carl A Bunch Of Money
Jodie gets a text from Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) and, following Shona’s advice, tells him to leave her alone.
In the meantime, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) ignores Ronnie Bailey’s (Vinta Morgan) warnings and sends Carl £2k; a furious Ronnie tells Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) that Carl is draining her finances.
As Jodie brushes off a cold encounter with Carl, she doesn’t notice someone following her, holding a locket like hers-who is it?
Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) later scolds Jodie about David the dog’s mess. Jodie quickly gets distracted when a girl named Olivia (uncredited) shows up, reminding her of how much she loved caring for her and her sister.
Jodie’s Got Another Secret
Later, making sure she’s alone, Jodie finds a hidden box, suggesting another secret; then, back at No.8, Shona panics about her missing wedding ring.
David comes back to find Jodie searching behind the armchair, saying she can feel the ring but needs his help. As he crouches next to her, Jodie seems happy about their closeness.
She wants to create trouble, making David look lazy on chores, increasing Shona’s doubts. In the café, Shona tells Bethany that she and David hardly see each other anymore- has her sister stolen her husband?
Maggie Causes Trouble For Lauren
Elsewhere, Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) causes even more mischief for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) with her interference.
Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) excitedly invites Lauren to dinner at the bistro, and she’s over the moon. Things are starting to finally look up for her, and their dates have been going swimmingly.
However, Maggie deals a frosty reminder that Lauren owes her job to her, and she’s left wondering how to deal with the interfering grandmother from hell.
George Is In Trouble
George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) faces issues at the undertakers. Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) jokes about George persuading clients to change their wills, only to find out that Mrs Ripley (uncredited), a potential client, has heard her.
Later, Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) tells George that unhappy customer Annie King (Marie Crutchley) has hired him to challenge her mother’s will and suggests George get a lawyer.
Adam then reveals that Annie believes Christina is helping George and plans to sue both of them; worse, Mrs Ripley’s son, Damien Ripley (Matthew Flynn), thanks George for managing his mum’s funeral.
Just as they finish, Annie arrives, warning Damien that the funeral director is untrustworthy-is something serious about to unfold?
