Coronation Street: Millie GibsonCoronation Street actress Millie Gibson has spoken about her character Kelly Neelan’s fate now that Corrie’s court trial is nearing its end.

In Nina Lucas’s (Mollie Gallagher) trip down memory lane on Monday’s (August 30) episode, it was confirmed that the evil rich kid Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) was the one who kicked late Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) to death, with Kelly trying to stop him.

It was also revealed that Kelly slapped Nina across the face in the early stages of the attack and at worst abandoned the dying lovers instead of calling help for them.

Kelly is aware she got the lower hand in this unequal battle against Corey with her only helper, stalwart lawyer Imran (Charlie de Melo) compared to Corey and his legal team headed by Imran’s ex Sabeen (Zora Bishop).

During her interview with the media, actress Gibson confessed Kelly has fallen into a deep depression feeling like her only hope is her foster parents Imran and Toyah (Georgia Taylor).

Seeing the influence of Corey’s privileged background in shaping the outcome of the trial, Kelly’s optimism to prove her innocence is dying after realizing that “the odds are stacked against her.”

Corrie viewers were furious to see Corey standing in court and lying through his teeth that it was Kelly who initiated the attack and it was he who begged her to stop kicking Seb.

To make matters worse, Corey’s lawyer, Sabeen, painted the scene like Kelly killed Seb to impress Corey.

Gibson shared Kelly’s infuriated to see Corey’s smug face while twisting the truth and trying to mask his crimes by looking innocent at court.

“She feels like no-one will believe her as his lawyers are trying to twist what actually happened that night, and give a motive that just wasn’t there,” she told Digital Spy.

Gibson revealed that Corrie viewers have been softer on her lately and pointed out that perhaps it was because her character has been showing her actual colors instead of her “cocky” side.

Whether Kelly will see the light or will be spending her years in the dark is for the viewers to see on Friday’s (September 10) episode, as she and her co-defendant Corey will receive their sentences.

“… she knows she’s told the truth so she just hopes the jury can see that.” Keep checking Celebrating The Soaps for more Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates.
