“He’s literally devastated, but everything happens really quickly and Jacob realises he’s in way too deep from the offset,” the actor said.

Ryan explained that Jacob feels trapped, and in a weird way, he still feels the need to protect his father. His dad may not have done anything to protect him as his son, but he feels responsible for protecting his father now.

“It all just happens so quickly, he doesn’t have the time to process it, he just wants to find a way out that won’t affect anyone, including his dad,” he added.

When it comes to Jacob’s relationship with Amy Barlow (Elle Jade Mulvaney), the actor admitted that his alter ego loves Amy. He had the opportunity to spend time with the Barlows and go to know Steve Barlow (Simon Gregson) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). The couple may be a bit unconventional but they sincerely love each other.

Jacob feels devastated just at the thought of them finding out that he’s back dealing drugs. He knows how it’ll affect Amy and her family, especially after giving him a chance to redeem himself.

Things will go awry when the drug dealing at the Bistro gets busted. Jacob’s father will pin the blame on him and tells him to leave Weatherfield if he wants to protect Amy. Ryan admitted t`hat Jacob wants to clear his name but he’ll have to make the most difficult decision in his life, and that’s to let go of the person he loves.

“Jacob will not risk Amy getting hurt or anything bad happening to the Barlows. Even Nick and Leanne – Jacob has got to a place where he has a lot of respect for them even if they haven’t for him and he doesn’t want to be the reason that anybody gets hurt,” the actor explained.
