‘Coronation Street’ Star Samia Longchambon Talks About Maria’s Future Storyline

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Samia Longchambon expressed her thoughts as her onscreen character, Maria Connor, has a big decision to make in the cobbles.

Maria Connor has been focusing on making Weatherfield clean and green since the day she discovered that her son, Liam, has asthma. In the previous episode, it was seen that the recycling collectors were on strike due to their additional workload when Maria brought in extra bins and new collections to immediately address the environmental issues in their community.

When the strike happened, the local councilor took the blame, so she decided to raise the pay of the workers since their workload has been changed. Maria then hoped that everybody would be happy about the increase and will immediately go back to their respective job.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Samia Longchambon Reveals Maria Connor’s Storyline

In the upcoming episodes, Maria Connor thinks about giving up her political position when she feels humiliated when she becomes a target of online trolls. It all starts when somebody compiles some of her speeches and turns them into a rap video. Everything gets worse when another online shenanigan gets viral showing her head on the body of a porn actress.

Samia Longchambon, the actress who plays Maria Connor in the soap, recently revealed her future storyline and that her character considered letting go of her responsibility as a local councilor to escape the rudeness of online trolls. “But she has a chat with Sally. Sally is Team Maria with it all. She tells Maria to actually carry on doing what she’s become really. We definitely see a change in Maria,” she said per Digital Spy.

The 39-year-old actress also expressed her sadness regarding her character’s decision, especially since Maria Connor has been doing great in improving Weatherfield in terms of environmental issues. She was also downhearted for letting the cruelty of the online trolls win against her advocacy for the cobbles. “It’s sad that she’s let the trolls win in a way,” Longchambon uttered.
