Coronation Street Star Wendi Peters Hints At Cilla Battersby Return

Coronation Street star Wendi Peters hints that she might be making her way back to Weatherfield after all. The actress, who is best known for her role as Cilla Battersby-Brown, was last seen on the cobbles back in 2014 but apparently, she’s looking to reprise her role sooner rather than later.

As a matter of fact, Wendi recently told the Daily Star Sunday that she would “never say never” to a potential soap comeback. She misses working with the cast and crew of Coronation Street so much that she would be willing to return in a heartbeat! There were fans who loved Cilla as much as there were also fans who hated her character.

She told the publication in a new interview, “Cilla was such a popular character, which is crazy because she was so in your face. People just loved to hate her. I love the variety of theatre but never say never to returning. I went back in 2014 for a short time and would consider it again if the storyline was right.”

Wendi also admitted that she also keeps up with all of the storylines and even wonders where Cilla would fit in today.

“I dip in now and then to see what Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Chesney (Sam Aston) are up to. Who knows? She may pop back again this year,” Wendi further revealed. “I think Chesney’s just been dumped, I think he was getting married or something and has ended up not being married – didn’t invite Cilla to the wedding, obviously.”
