In the previous episode of the longest-running soap, Evelyn spotted Cassie in Weatherfield but she chose to ignore her. However, despite getting rid of her daughter, the woman received a call about Cassie being hospitalized.
As a result, she failed to see Roy and Yasmeen and paid a visit to her daughter. As Evelyn stepped foot on the ward, she found her daughter sleeping.
When she finally woke up, Cassie shared her life struggles with her mom, which led her to involve herself in addictive substances. Moreover, she expressed her madness when she knew that her mother is currently living with her son, Tyrone Dobbs. The longing matriarch wanted to see her son, but Evelyn rejected the idea as Tyrone believed that his mom is dead.
Evelyn Plummer Shows Support to Cassie
During the recent scenes of “Coronation Street,” Evelyn reached out to Abi Webster and asked about her addiction experiences. Abi then shared that she only decided to get sober when she felt the support of her loved ones, especially her husband, Kevin. As a result, Evelyn realized that she needed to be with her daughter as she tries to take the road to sobriety. However, when she reached the hospital, the matriarch learned that Cassie discharged herself.

As she headed back home, Tyrone stated that Evelyn got a visitor named Cath. When she checked the living room, she found her daughter smiling at her. Evelyn then told Tyrone that Cath is one of her old neighbor’s friends. Amidst their conversation, Cassie was quivering due to heroin withdrawals, leading Evelyn to decide to support her daughter.
Later that day, the matriarch approached Dev Alahan and asked if she could have £5,000 advance on her wages. However, the man rejected the idea as he couldn’t get that huge amount of money right away. On the other hand, Roy Cropper overheard their conversation, leading him to offer financial help to his good friend. Though Evelyn appreciated the gesture, she refused to accept the cash and admitted that she read one of Roy’s letters.
Maureen Lipman Takes a Break from ‘Coronation Street’
Returning to her daughter, Evelyn revealed that she will be with her every step of the way until Cassie recovers from drugs. The woman then talked to Tyrone and announced that she will be gone for a while to help her neighbor, James. As Evelyn and Cassie have gone their way, the latter promised her mom to be serious with her recovery.

Dame Maureen Lipman will temporarily step out from the cobbles as she will star in the West End play titled “Rose.” The avid viewers would see the beloved actress onscreen again as she signed a contract extension with the soap last summer.
