Clay Milner Russell, who portrays Bobby Beale on EastEnders, has decided to leave the show after five years. The talented actor is ready to explore new opportunities and take on different roles.
While he has enjoyed his time on the soap, he is looking forward to the next chapter in his career. Best of luck to Clay as he moves on from EastEnders!
Whitney Dean, a beloved character on EastEnders played by Shona McGarty, has decided to bid farewell to the soap after 15 years.
Shona, who has portrayed Whitney since she was 16, made the choice to leave in order to explore new opportunities-she’ll still be airing for at least the next week, her exit date not revealed.
EastEnders Spoilers – Who’s Already Left In 2024-Several Are Already Gone
Nadine Keller (Jazzy Phoenix) shocked Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) with her return to Walford, claiming she was pregnant with his child. Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown), Jay’s adopted daughter, suspected Nadine’s ulterior motives and sought help from her great-great-grandfather, Stevie Mitchell (Alan Peacock).
Despite being paid off by Nadine to keep quiet, Stevie exposed her fake pregnancy in front of everyone at the Vic. Nadine’s lies were laid bare, and Jay, furious, took back the fake baby bump she had been using.
Feeling guilty, Nadine confessed to Jay about being blackmailed and left Walford in a cab, asking Stevie to watch over Jay.
EastEnders Spoilers – Another Recent Exit In 2024
Jade Masood (Elizabeth Green) returned to Dean Wicks (Matt DiAngelo) in January after a lung transplant.
However, when Jade revealed her plans to move to Pakistan with her mother, Dean resorted to a twisted scheme to keep her in the country. Dean tampered with Jade’s medication, causing her health to deteriorate, all in an attempt to prevent her from leaving.
As a result of his actions concerning Jade, plus being framed for the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walker) Dean ended up in prison. Jade returned to Pakistan to live with her mother, Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar).
EastEnders Spoilers – The Sad Exit Of Gloria Knight
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Gloria Knight (Elizabeth Counsell) took her last breath with her adopted son George Knight (Colin Salmon) by her side, leaving behind a trail of emotions. It was a devastating moment as Gloria suffered a heart attack while in court.
Meanwhile, her husband Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) had just been convicted for the racially aggravated murder of George’s biological father, Henry Kofi Asare (uncast), and was sentenced to prison.
As Gloria’s life slipped away, George found solace in the hospital, sharing poignant final moments with his beloved mother. In a remarkable display of forgiveness, George let go of any resentment and embraced his mother one last time.
EastEnders Spoilers – Max Bowden’s Exit As Ben Mitchell
Max Bowden bid farewell to his character Ben Mitchell after a successful five-year run in March 2024. Max had portrayed the role of Ben, the son of Walford tough guy Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), since 2019 and was crowned soap superstar of 2023 at the Inside Soap Awards.
Ben’s departure storyline began with his arrest for a past crime in America during husband Callum Highway’s (Tony Clay) surprise birthday bash at the Vic.
Despite his protests of innocence, Ben was accused of credit card fraud while seeking treatment options for terminally ill Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold) in the US.
Despite his hopes for bail and a plan to flee the country with his daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) orchestrated with his father Phil, Ben’s scheme was uncovered by the family.
EastEnders Spoilers = Short Returns And Exits In 2024
There have been some short returns and exits as well; Lorraine Stanley made a grand entrance back to Walford as Karen Taylor, seeking answers about her son Keanu’s mysterious disappearance on Christmas Day.
The drama unfolded as Karen uncovered the truth behind Keanu’s fate, confronting those she believed were responsible.
Despite her daughter Bernie’s pleas to let go, Karen was determined to uncover the truth, leading to an emotional farewell as she left Walford behind once again.
Lucas Johnson (Don Gilet) made a surprising comeback to the soap when his ex-wife Denise Fox (Diane Parish), who was going through a tumultuous time, paid him a visit in prison.
Seeking forgiveness for her role in the murder of Keanu Taylor, Denise’s visit sparked a brief stint for Lucas on the show.
EastEnders Spoilers – Future Comebacks
There are also characters and their portrayers who left but will make future comebacks. Martin Fowler (James Bye) made the decision to fly to Australia to be with his sister Michelle Fowler (Jenna Russell) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) after learning about Michelle’s upcoming surgery.
James Bye took a break from the soap for an outside project; he recently returned. Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) and Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) the adored couple, have bid farewell to the Square as they embark on an exciting new adventure.
Rest assured, Kim and Howie will grace our screens once again later this year, bringing their infectious energy and love back to our beloved show.

After causing quite a stir with her return three months ago, Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) decided to make a grand exit from the Square once again.
Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Sam had a falling out when she threatened to spill the beans about his affair with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) if he didn’t hand over her inheritance money.
Phil eventually caved and gave her the cash, but when he insulted her, Sam had had enough of his bullying. She took matters into her own hands by revealing Phil’s secret at a karaoke party, causing everyone to turn against her.
With nothing left for her in Walford, Sam left for Canada after giving some money to her son Ricky Mitchell Jr. (Frankie Day).
EastEnders Spoilers – Returning Characters-Bianca Jackson
EastEnders made a thrilling announcement as Bianca Jackson, played by Patsy Palmer, returned to the iconic role after a four-year hiatus.
Fans were overjoyed to see the beloved character back in action. It’s clear that Bianca has no plans of leaving Walford anytime soon, as she quickly secures a job at the café.
As she settles into her new role, she finds herself offering comfort to Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) while Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) promotes the café. She’ll soon see some action in the love department with a new character.

Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) took a break from Walford following her son Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) heartbreaking Christmas departure.
Devastated by Mick’s presumed death, Shirley tearfully said goodbye to her close friend Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), explaining that the Square no longer felt like home. She then closed the pub and left with her bulldog Lady Di to seek solace with her daughter Carly Wicks (Kellie Shirley).
Since Shirley’s absence, a lot has unfolded in Walford, including the introduction of the Knight family and the return of her son Dean Wicks, after a seven-year absence. As aforementioned, Dean’s now in prison.
EastEnders Spoilers – Returned Recast Character-Johnny Carter
Johnny Carter made a dramatic return to the Square after a five-year absence, with a new actor, Charlie Suff, taking on the role. Johnny had been away in Manchester pursuing a career as a solicitor, but he rushed back to Walford to find his family in turmoil.
His mother Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was in a bad state after a traumatic event, and to make matters worse, his grandmother revealed Linda’s rapist, Dean Wicks, was back in town.
Fueled by anger, Johnny confronted Dean and now he’s on a mission to protect his family and get rid of the threat once and for all.
EastEnders Spoilers – Returning Character Lauren Branning And Penny Branning
Jacqueline Jossa, the beloved EastEnders star, made a grand entrance back to Walford on New Year’s Day, reprising her role as Lauren Branning.
Lauren, accompanied by her son Louie Beale (recast Jake McNally) and cousin Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine), was enjoying a lively New Year party in the beautiful city of Paris.
She got a text from home and the family returned to Albert Square, Louie missing his daddy, Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson, currently offscreen). Lauren and Kitty are back in the action, interacting with the extended family.

Since the beginning of 2024, Lola Campbell arrived as Britney Wainwright, a wayward teen Whitney is fostering against Zack Hudson’s (James Farrar) wishes. David Sterne joined the cast as Harold Martin, Aunt Sal’s (Anna Karen) widower.
Alan Ford joined as Stevie Mitchell, the Mitchell family’s estranged patriarch. George Knight’s adoptive parents Eddie and Gloria joined the cast, Eddie in prison and Gloria passed away.
George Knight’s estranged son, George Knight Junior makes his first appearance the week of May 13, played by Micah Balfour.
