Eastenders Spoilers: Corrie Alum Balvinder Sopal Joins The Cast of EastEnders

Balvinder Sopal, a former cast member of “Coronation Street,” is joining “EastEnders” as Suki Panesar, the mother of The Panesars. The character is set to cause chaos in Albert Square as she makes her debut in the New Year. The actress is also known for her minor roles in other daytime dramas including “Emmerdale” and “Hollyoaks.”

The Panesar brothers, which consist of Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol), Jags Panesar (Amar Adatia), and Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota), were introduced in Walford back in October. Their estranged sister, Ash Panesar (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha) was later introduced.

Ash’s Unexplained Rift With Suki

The three brothers may be excited to see their mother. However, it’s been hinted that Ash has a complicated and turbulent relationship with her mother. She’s made it clear that she doesn’t want anything to do with her but didn’t reveal why.

Suki’s difficult relationship with Ash will play a significant part in the new storylines of the family. She’ll also be bringing with her “a number of secrets from her past,” which is set to be revealed sooner rather than later.

Balvinder Sopal admitted that she’s been an avid fan of “EastEnders” while growing and being part of the soap is like a dream come true. She said she’s still “pinching herself” now that she’s been cast as the matriarch Suki Panesar.

“I’m excited to see what’s in store for Suki as she joins her family on Albert Square,” she said.

Jon Sen Talks About Sopal’s Casting

“EastEnders,” executive producer Jon Sen said, “It has been clear since their arrival that the Panesar siblings live under the shadow of an overbearing matriarch and in January, Suki Panesar arrives in Walford, determined to make her presence felt.”

“Balvinder brings a unique blend of steeliness and charm to the role and I can’t wait to see her grace our screens in January,” he continued.

“Suki thrives off attention, is fiercely protective of her family and has an ability to draw people in,” the release adds.

“However, Walford residents should not be fooled by her larger than life persona because Suki always knows best and she is not one to be reckoned with.,” it added.
