EastEnders Spoilers: Murder Shocker – Jay Brown Stops Ben Mitchell From Killing Phil

Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) arrived in the nick of time and managed to stop his friend, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) from making a harrowing mistake that would change his life forever.

Ben didn’t have much time to tamper with Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) life support equipment as Jay burst into the room and stopped him from acting on his new plan. In a fit of rage and desperation, Ben punched his friend whose only intention was to make him realize that what he wanted to do wasn’t right.

EastEnders Spoilers – Plan To Frame Keanu Fails

Viewers may recall that Ben has been trying to frame Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) for Phil’s brutal attack even though he knew that it was Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) who hit him from behind during an altercation with Martin Fowler (James Bye). He wants Keanu to be gone forever, and he saw an opportunity in Phil’s attack to do just that.

In an interview with Radio Times, Bowden explained his alter ego’s actions. He said, “It’s got to the point with Keanu where enough is enough. He’s taken Ben’s place as the Mitchell son, and he wants him out of the picture so Ben doesn’t have to live in someone’s shadow.”

“Ben is so frustrated and broken by the way he’s been treated by his dad that he doesn’t do anything the easy or simple way – he wants to do things his way,” he continued.

“Ben likes to be in the driving seat and at that point, he is in control of what happens next – when he told Stacey, Kat and Martin he’d ‘sort it’ he was actually pleased, he gets to do this the way he wants,” he explained.

However, his plan started to crumble especially when the authorities had more questions for him than he expected. Furthermore, he finds out that Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) was also on Keanu’s side.

Thinking that Phil won’t hear anything since he’s still in coma, Ben told Jay the truth behind his return to the Square. As he confessed to Jay that he came back to get revenge on Phil, the latter started to flutter his eyes as he slowly awakened from his coma.

Jay managed to make Ben realize that all he ever wanted was his father’s respect and approval. As Ben started to apologize for his actions, Phil began to regain his consciousness. When Phil came to, he asked who attacked him. Ben trying to save himself tried to manipulate his father once again and said it was Keanu. Will Ben get away for trying to kill Phil? Or did Phil overhear Ben and Jay’s conversation?
