Evelyn and Cassie Make On-Screen Return on Coronation Street

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Evelyn Plummer (played by Maureen Lipman) and Cassie Plummer (played by Claire Sweeney) are making a comeback in the soap.

Last month, a storyline was introduced wherein Cassie came back to the series. She is the long-lost daughter of Evelyn. She is also the mother of Tyrone (played by Alan Halsall).

Cassie and Evelyn’s return

Tyrone didn’t know his mother was alive all this time. He believed his biological mother was dead. Evelyn kept the secret from him as Cassie was struggling with addiction most of her life. Evelyn even gave Tyrone away at the police station when he was a baby. Tyrone only found out about this about two years ago when his past was revealed by Evelyn herself.

Evelyn said that she had to give him up for a fresh start as she thought it would be best for him. As mentioned, she told Tyrone that his mother was already dead. With that revelation and Cassie’s appearance in the cobbles, this could really turn Tyrone and Evelyn’s relationship apart.

Evelyn also took a break from the screen as Maureen focused on her one-woman play. As reported last May, she has already filmed her final scenes. And these scenes were shown until about the last week of June.

Evelyn spotted Cassie outside the café, but she ignored her and continued walking. She was supposed to meet up with Roy and Yasmeen. However, she got a call from a hospital that she was listed as an emergency contact of Cassie and that she was admitted to the hospital because of an overdose.

Evelyn asked Cassie why she was in town. Cassie said she needed money, but Evelyn knew her daughter better – she was still an addict. Despite being apart, it was revealed that over the years, Evelyn tried to help Cassie, but she would often relapse, which is probably why Evelyn seems to have given up on her.

Cassie Knows That Evelyn Has Been Living With Her Son.

Cassie insists that she has the right to see her son, but Evelyn tells her that Tyrone thinks that she’s already dead. However, Cassie decided to go to their house later on and presented herself to Tyrone as his grandma’s friend.

It was shown that Cassie and Evelyn left the soap as Evelyn agreed to help Cassie get clean. And now, it is confirmed by Claire Sweeney that she and Maureen will be back in the series.

The last recent scenes from Evelyn and Cassie were taken greatly by fans as they were moving. This is about a mother and a daughter that grew apart because of addiction. And it is really moving that they were able to find their way back to each other despite everything that happened.
