By now, you probably heard about a released suicide note attributed to Jeffrey Epstein. Since then, an expert weighed in and discussed whether it was really his handwriting. Of course, it attracted a lot of comments and a few of them revived old theories about a correctional officer named Roberto Grijalva. Can they be verified? Read on to find out.
The Handwritten Note Analysis
Ahead of the weekend, NBC News on YouTube brought in a handwriting analyst who reviewed the alleged suicide note. During the interview, the expert explained that the writing could be Epstein’s as some letters looked similar to others.
However, there there wasn’t enough verified comparison material available to make a firm conclusion.

In the note, he’d allegely written, “What do you want me to do? Burst out crying?” And that line seemed similar to previous emails released by the DOJ.

The death of Jeffrey Epstein certainly started a lot of conversations on social media back in the day. And this time, it was no different. However, you can hardly blame folks for that. After all, many issues happened when Epstein died at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York in 2019.
Claims About Grijalva
In the comments section, more than one person mentioned Roberto Grijalva. If you don’t know, he was identified as a correctional officer linked to the jail where Epstein died.
Some social media posts and alternative news sites previously claimed that Grijalva knew Jeffrey Epstein was still alive or witnessed unusual activity at the facility. Other versions of the story suggest authorities later silenced him.
Notably, in the absence of real answers about the number of errors that night, one person commented:
Epstein is still alive according to a correctional officer who worked at the jail at the time. His name is Roberto Grijalva. The FBI put a gag order on him for exposing it and it’s crazy to me that nobody brings this up. He has been promoted to captain since then at the same facility and nobody is seeming to try to get an interview with him.
Can It Be Verified?
Plenty of people believe in that still-alive theory, especially with the rise of AI that seem to show Epstein alive and well. But, it’s worth taking a look at the claims about Roberto Grijalva.
We dug around for verification across mainstream media reports, and so far, there doesn’t seem to be anything verified to disprove that Epstein died. There’s also no proof that he escaped from custody, or was secretly removed from the jail.
Grijalva’s name circulated online for years in connection with anonymous internet posts made around the time of Epstein’s death. However, nobody seems keen to step forward and verify them.
Questions Continue
For now, the official ruling remains that Epstein died by suicide while in federal custody. Still, the case continues to attract attention because of a series of failures.
Previously, reports revealed that security cameras malfunctioned in parts of the jail. Unfortunately, that meant inmate checks were skipped. Other red flags later ended up as revealing inaccurate logged information.
Naturally, that sort of detail continues fueling online speculation years after the case first made headlines. Of course, the recent handwriting discussion only added more added debate. Probably, because the the expert stopped short of confirming it was written by him.
Online Speculation Persists
Whenever new documents, interviews, or analysis connected to Jeffrey Epstein appear online, older theories surrounding his death pop up like mushrooms.
The Roberto Grijalva claims seem to fall into the category of conspiracy theory. But, it should be noted, that it’s a strong theory. Or, it would be if there’d ever been any verified evidence confirming that Epstein survived or that Grijalva exposed a cover-up.
Was there a gag order? Maybe, but if so, it’s a pretty tight gag as nobody seems to have been able to get Grijalva to talk in front of a camera. Was he protected and promoted as a result of his silence? That’s not verifiable, either.
