Old School Buddy Of Trump Might Win Freedom For Joe Exotic?

Joe Exotic is looking for his new lawyer to get him out of jail. The Tiger King star, who previously appealed to Lara Trump, reportedly retained the services of an attorney who attended military school with former President Donald Trump. Will he be able to pull off a pardon? Read on to find out more.

The Old Boy Network Thing?

According to a new article by TMZ, the old friendship between Attorney Peter Ticktin and the former president gives Joe (Joseph A. Maldonado) new hope for a pardon. Notably, Joe’s well aware that of the pardon that Todd and Julie Chrisley got earlier this year.

Joe Exotic remains in prison in Texas where he’s  serving 21 years. An earlier 22-year prison term was shortened by one year. At the time, he requested it on humanitarian grounds after his cancer diagnosis.

Even that year off seemed to critics like a generosity. After all, he serves time for a murder-for-hire scheme involving Carole Baskin, plus wildlife offenses.

The Attorney Was Close To Trump

His new lawyer, Peter Ticktin was was Donald Trump’s “platoon sergeant” at the New York Military Academy. Previously, he penned a book where he voiced his support for Trump.

TMZ cited the lawyer as saying:

My client was the one who was most likely to be found guilty from the very beginning, and the court was against him. Unfortunately, this is just another example of a case where an innocent man is in prison and it is time for him to be set free.

Pardon Rumors Persist

Currently, no hard evidence exists that Trump plans a pardon for Joe Exotic. However, rumors persist that the former Netflix star hopes for one.

Well, hoping isn’t enough, and neither are social media appeals, which Joe did in the past. Recall, he appealed to Trump for his new husband to remain in the USA ahead of his deportation.

Optimism For Early Clemency

Ticktin intends to go the formal route and lodge a request for clemency. Additionally, he will file a petition with the Supreme Court. Sounding rather optimistic, the attorney hopes that Joe will get out of jail “by Christmas.”

That seems very optimistic that Santa might come along bell-ringing and brandishing a get-out-of-jail card soon.

In the past, Joe claimed he’d be unlikely to survive his full prison term, set to end in 2030. He claimed that his prostate cancer flared up and that he also has metastasized lung cancer.
