Robin Williams’ – Son Zak Remembers Actor
On the ninth anniversary of Robin Williams’ death, his son Zak honored the actor with a tribute on Instagram. And the 40-year-old posted a photo of Robin.
Williams died by suicide at age 63 on Aug. 11, 2014. And his spokesperson told People that prior to his suicide, Robin had suffered from “severe depression.”
However, it subsequently was learned that Williams had Lewy body dementia.
In his tribute, Zak wrote, “Dad, on the 9th anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering you for your most excellent fashion choices.” The photo accompanying the caption showed the actor waving a tennis racket and wearing baggy shorts and a T-shirt. “These days are always hard and I love remembering you for being so very, very YOU. Love you so much!”
And last month, Robin’s children honored what would have marked his 72nd birthday. Turning to social media, Zak wrote, “Happy 72nd Dad! Was remembering how much I used to love that look you’d give. That look with a mischievous, loving grin that your friends and loved ones knew so well. Joyous and curious and wondrous.” And the actor’s son accompanied the tribute with a photo showing Williams smiling. “Miss you and love you forever!” Zak is the oldest son of Robin and his first wife Valerie Velardi.
Robin Williams – Would Have Supported Actors’ And Writers’ Strike
However, prior to his death, Williams advocated for the rights of screenwriters. And his daughter Zelda Williams, 34, shared on what would have marked his 72nd birthday her belief that he would have offered support for the current writers’ and actors’ strike.
Zelda shared a picture of her father on the the New York picket line in the 2007 strike. And she wrote, “Happy birthday to Poppo, who definitely would’ve been out there fighting the good fight for art and artists today and always.”
Zelda and her brother Cody Williams, 31, are from Robin’s second marriage to Marsha Garces Williams.
Reflecting on writers’ strikes, Williams once shared that he believed the protests should not focus on the “millionaire screenwriters.
They don’t need to be on strike. This is not about me, I’m fine.” And he added, “This is about a large amount of people who are simply trying to get their fair share.”
