Arrest Made – In Tupac Shakur’s Death

An arrest in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur finally has come 27 years after his death. And at last, police have arrested a man linked to the killing.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested Duane Keith “Keefe D” Davis early Friday morning on charges in connection with Tupac’s murder, reported TMZ.

However, Davis’ name has come up before in connection to the rapper’s death. And both in interviews and his book “Compton Street Legend,” he confessed that he rode in the Cadillac that drove next to Tupac’s car. After rolling down the windows, someone from that Cadillac fired, hitting Tupac four times. But Davis identified himself as the uncle of the late Orlando Anderson, suspected as the shooter.

And Tupac and his crew had fought with Orlando inside the MGM Grand just before the deadly shooting. But this summer, police headed to a home in Las Vegas owned by Keefe D’s wife, Paula Clemons. And they executed a search warrant linked to the murder investigation.

Tupac Shakur Murder -Detective Speaks Out

And insiders told the NY Post that Davis will “face a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.” At the time of the shooting, Tupac was just 25 years old. And Davis had insisted that his nephew, Orlando, fired those fatal bullets. But Orlando, who died in a shooting at age 23, claimed his innocence and never was arrested.

Because no statute of limitations exists in Nevada on prosecuting murder cases, the case has remained open. And Greg Kading, a retired LAPD detective who had investigated Tupac’s death, offered details. “Davis provided the gun and he actively sought out Tupac with his nephew,” said the detective.

And Kading alleged, “Davis gave the gun to his nephew, who was in the car with them, and collectively, they went out and intended to shoot Tupac. He provided the gun, his nephew did the shooting, so they are all equally guilty under solicitation for murder.” Kading revealed, “I am super excited because this is huge!”

Tupac Shakur’s Stepbrother Expresses Frustration

But the detective also pointed out, “We knew this wasn’t an unsolved case. And now it looks like they have taken it to a point where they can officially close it. For the rest of history, Tupac’s murder will not be considered an unsolved crime.”

At the time, the shooting occurred in a public area. But not a single witness stepped forward. And rumors soared that the murder of Tupac had been gang-related. Tupac had been linked to the Bloods street gang.

However, Shakur’s stepbrother, Mopreme Shakur, described how frustrated the family felt. Davis’ name has been linked to the murder for years. And the rapper’s stepbrother pointed out, “This theory hasn’t been looked into for 27 years. Why? My family’s been traumatized, my sister, my daughter, my nieces, my nephews, we’ve all been traumatized, waiting. We’ve been waiting for something to happen, for someone to be proactive enough to take action.”
