When it comes to the Oscars, one can’t be so sure about the nods and awards. Kristen Stewart, among other first-time nominees, actually got her first-ever nod for her role in Spencer as Princess Diana. However, we can’t say the same for Lady Gaga’s performance in House of Gucci and Bradley Cooper’s Nightmare Alley.
Despite not receiving any awards in the Oscars, Lady Gaga found it worthy to celebrate the film’s hairstylist Frederic Aspiras for his nomination. She posted in her Instagram account “I could not be happier for a man I call my brother.” She continued “And to all the nominees this year, congratulations on all your hard work, dedication, your nomination, and YOUR magic—you all deserve major recognition for what was a truly beautiful landscape of performances and accomplishments this past year.”
The Snubs From 2022 Oscar Nominations.
Jared Leto: Although the Screen Actors Guild Awards applauded Leto’s portrayal of Paolo Gucci in House of Gucci, Apparently, it didn’t meet the standards for the Academy. This revelation had to come nearly seven years after he won Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Dallas Buyer’s Club.
Rachel Zegler: Despite the fact that the film in which she starred as Maria Vazquez in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story faired well, Rachel Zegler didn’t get any nominations. The film itself had a total of seven score nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and Ariana DeBose being named a nominee for Best Supporting Actress.
Marlee Matlin: People were surprised to see Matlin was left out of the running in this year’s race, as she is one of the only deaf actors to ever win an Academy Award. Nonetheless, the actress tweeted she’s “very proud and happy” for CODA co-star Troy Kotsur, who became the second deaf person to be nominated for an Oscar.
Bradley Cooper: With Licorice Pizza and Nightmare Alley both in contention for the Academy Awards, Cooper had double the chances to be nominated in the acting categories but oh well, it wasn’t meant to be. Bradley received a nomination for Best Picture as he was on the producing team for Nightmare Alley.
