Adele Reveals That Her And Her Team “Have Run Out Of Time”
“Weekends with Adele” was originally scheduled to run from Jan. 21 to April 16, with two shows each weekend.
Originally set to premiere this Friday, the British singer-songwriter shared an emotional video where she revealed that she would be rescheduling the anticipated concert.
“Hi, listen I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready. We tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID — they still are,” Adele, 33, revealed at the beginning of the video with tear-streaked eyes.
She continued, “It’s been impossible to finish the show — and I can’t give you what I have right now. I’m tired. I’m tired. I’m sorry it’s so last minute, we’ve been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out, and we’ve run out of time.”
She apologized to the fans who might have traveled just to see her perform for making the announcement last-minute. The show will go on, Adele assured, but the singer is sorry that it’ll have to take place at a later date.
“I’m so upset, and I’m really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that’s traveled again. I’m really, really sorry, I’m really sorry. We’re on it, we’re gonna reschedule all of the dates, we’re on it right now, and I’m gonna finish my show and I’m gonna get it to where it’s supposed to be. I’m so sorry it’s been impossible, we’ve been up against so much, and it just ain’t ready. I’m really sorry,” she said.
The Las Vegas residency, which will take place at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, was originally announced by Adele in November, following the release of her best-selling fourth studio album, “30”.
On Thursday, Caesar’s Palace announced that they’re completely backing Adele’s decision to postpone the shows, writing: “We fully support Adele and are confident the show that she unveils at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will be extraordinary.”
The venue also added that the concertgoers with hotel reservations could get full refunds. Those already at the hotel for the shows are likely to get refunds for their Friday and Saturday night stays.
Where Will Adele Perform Next
Following her Las Vegas residency, the hit-maker is also scheduled to perform twice in London’s Hyde Park in July. She did not address whether her Hyde Park appearance will be affected due to her residency rescheduling.
The two shows are a part of BST Hyde Park’s summer series, with other concerts set to star Elton John, Duran Duran and Pearl Jam.
Last week, the singer dropped the second music video from her latest album for her beloved track “Oh My God”.
Upon the video’s release, Adele took to social media in a rare move to thank the crew involved in the production, “I got to work with Sam Brown again for ‘Oh My God’ who directed the ‘Rolling In The Deep’ video! So to collaborate together again a decade later was nostalgic to say the least.”
“We filmed this one on the day Easy On Me dropped, there were a million things going on all at once. But the attention to detail from the crew was borderline hilarious – thank you so much for your patience and pulling it all together it was a lot of fun,” she said. “Although right at the end a huge python was on set so I skidaddled my arse straight out of there!”
She added, “Big thank you to Harris Reed, Louis Vuitton and The Queens Haus – Vivienne Westwood for the most stunning clothes for me to sing my ‘I’m a hot mess’ song in! ♥️.”
