Adele’s Oprah Interview Could be the Latest Global Topic

It takes years for Adele to grace the world with new music, but every time she does so, the world slows down and listens. The 32-year-old British singer has captured the hearts of millions around the world with her incredible voice, her heart-wrenching ballads and, on a side note, her easygoing personality and humor.

The singer’s interview with U.S. chat show host Oprah Winfrey and a special performance will air on CBS on Sunday.

The special – made by James Corden’s company Fulwell, 73 – has a revenue share deal to be syndicated in several countries around the world.

Insiders are calculating that it could bring in as much as $100 million in revenue, with Corden’s firm expected to receive a generous slice of it.

A source said: “The fees for syndication could be over $100million total. For Adele, it’s a simply fantastic piece of business – you promote your new record and take home a nice little earner on top.”

The “nice little earner” isn’t too bad for a day’s worth of work, but of course, it’s Adele we’re talking about. Hello?

“Technically, she may say the interview is free, but her song performances in the show are performance payments,” the source continued. “TV networks across the world are shelling out significant sums for their regions and it will mean millions coming into the coffers.”

A CBS insider said that the network has paid “at least $5million, but perhaps as much as $7million” to debut Adele: One Night Only – a two-hour special featuring the performer’s first new material in six years.

The show will be premiering in the U.S. five days ahead of the release of her fourth album, 30, and will include some never-before heard songs.

Corden’s company – which he owns with five other people – also produced ITV’s “An Audience With Adele”, which was filmed last week and will be airing on November 21.

For the U.S. special, Adele sat down with Oprah at her Montecito home, where the television personality quizzed Harry and Meghan in March.

For now, it’s TV’s biggest buzz, with reports stating that various networks around the world were rushing to cash in on guaranteed television success. Broadcasters are trying their best to get in on the action.

The interview was the subject of furious bidding wars between broadcasters totaling tens of millions of dollars – and has now been syndicated to 70 countries.

Countries are clamoring to air Adele’s performances, so I guess it’s champagne night for both Adele and James Corden. It would only be fair if they gave me an invite, just saying.
