The ‘Rust’ controversy was one of the biggest Hollywood fail stories to take place in recent times. There’s the Will Smith Oscars slap thing, there’s Kevin Spacey and his sexual assault cases, Amber Heard/Johnny Depp defamation battle, and even Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing court case, but Alec Baldwin’s definitely makes the top ranking for a Hollywood grace to grass story.
Now, the actor is reportedly trying to rehabilitate his image in the way of a TLC reality TV show. Let’s just say that fans and critics think he might be trying too hard.
Alec Baldwin Says Men Think He’s Like Them: “We’re men, we have to work?”
Alec Baldwin is a father of eight and he knows it. In the latest episode of his reality TV show ‘The Baldwins,’ the actor and producer revealed his stance on what he sees as a healthy way of juggling both career and family.
“It’s interesting to see men who look at me like they think I’m like them,” Baldwin told the camera in the March 16 episode of ‘The Baldwins.’ He is then shown playing with his children in the backyard. “[They say], ‘Well, like you can only take this parenting thing so far. They’re like, ‘Well, you’re going to get back to work, right? We’re men, we have to work?”
As for whether he has any upcoming projects, the 66-year-old revealed, “the answer isn’t a movie or a TV show or a play, although there’s nothing wrong with that.”
“What I’m doing is this,” he continued as we’re shown his playful interactions with his children, “This is what I’m doing, is raising my kids. Maybe I’ll just step aside and forget about acting and career.”
For example, Baldwin cites his many “very successful” friends within the entertainment business that spend so much time building their careers that they leave little time for their families. “
They strike while the iron is hot,” he noted. “There was a 20-year period from when there were 30 to 50 where they did nothing but work all day, every day.”
Sadly, when the “retirement age” comes in and their work starts to dry up, they realize they can’t make up for all those lost years because their kids are now out the door and ready to go to college.
Even though he wouldn’t go as far as to say that such parents’ lost the opportunity to get to truly know their children, he did say that it’s “time that they can’t get back.”
“I don’t want to have that regret,” he admitted. “This is the one benefit of having kids later in life.”
Baldwin shares seven children with wife Hilaria Baldwin: laria Catalina Irena, 19 months, María Lucía Victoria, 3, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 3, Romeo Alejandro David, 5, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 7, Rafael Thomas, 8, and Carmen Gabriela, 10. He also shares Ireland, 28, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
