Amanda Seyfried Opens Up About Gaining Superstardom From Playing Elizabeth Holmes Onscreen

It’s hard to play with fame and skirt it, and yet that’s what Amanda Seyfried has done for many years since she began her acting career.

Don’t get me wrong, Amanda Seyfried is a household name, but people just don’t associate her with her peers Emma Stone and Kristen Stewart. Why? Seyfried’s fame has been somewhat of a chameleon; it’s there, but it’s not shining so bright that people see her as a superstar.

Anyway, it’s all about to change, because Amanda Seyfried has finally caught the eyes of the public for playing the intriguing public figure Elizabeth Holmes, and yes, we’re intrigued.

Seyfried has been in the spotlight for nearly two decades, appearing in blockbuster movies and yet remaining under the radar. While part of it could be that she’s been cast beside big names like Hugh Jackman who ultimately steal the spotlight, it’s also been by choice.

She’s kept her name out of the tabloids and avoided settling in Los Angeles, where many A-listers call home. The actress chose to buy property in a tiny town in upstate New York, where she owns nearly 30 acres of land and a farm, complete with chickens and goats. Even though she rented a new apartment in Manhattan, where she’s filming “The Dropout”, the farm is still her home base.

However, with the arrival of “The Dropout”, where she appears in almost every scene, she’s getting that meteoric fame she’s managed to escape for nearly two decades.

“Fame is weird,” she admitted. “I’ve never been super famous. I’ve always been somewhat recognizable. It’s been the healthiest trajectory. [It’s] not a scary spike. I have my priorities. I know who I am. I know where I’m going. I know what it means. It means that I’m getting to do what I love.”

But that’s all in the past as Seyfried clued fans in on bigger things by announcing she’s no longer “afraid of it now”.

While Seyfried originally started out as a model at the age of 11, she switched into acting shortly after by taking up roles in soap operas. Her break came with the popular teen movie “Mean Girls”. The movie shot her and her young costars, Lindsay Lohan and Rachel MacAdams, into stardom and for some 18 years, people still recognized her by her “Mean Girls” character Karen.
