The couple, who both starred in the psychological thriller Deep Water, were confirmed to be in a relationship on March 11, 2020. At the time, fans weren’t convinced that the whole thing was real and not a PR stunt to sell their movie.

Anywho, after a lot of cute vacation pictures, birthday pictures, pictures that Ben Affleck deserves to get credit for as the photographer even though he can barely focus a camera, and just when fans are starting to believe it might be real, it ended. In December 2020, the Deep Water couple, who appeared in the movie as husband and wife, took a major step in their relationship. Ana moved in with Affleck. It was reported a few days after the couple started sharing a home that the honeymoon phase was over and things had started getting harder between them due to their proximity.

An insider said that the couple had different lifestyles which caused them to drift apart. It was also added that Garner wasn’t interested in knowing about Ana on a personal level and that helped in creating the drift.

The rumors of her getting back with her ex started when she posted a picture of herself wearing a half-heart pendant on her Instagram story. It happened to be the same one that she and the star and director of Argo wore in spring last year whilst they were dating. This quickly sparked rumors of a reconciliation between the couple, and Ana took it upon herself to put a stop to it before it grows further with the words, “nope, nope, nope, no, no, I don’t think so,” with a peace-out emoji, all on a black background.

People Weighing In On The Breakup

At the time when the couple split, a lot of people, including Ben’s brother Casey Affleck, weighed in on the couple’s relationship and breakup. Casey Affleck called Ana “the sweetest, funniest, smartest, most charming person,” in an interview days after the couple’s split. He also added that it would be nice if they thought hard about it and got back together.

“They brought a lot of good things into each other’s lives, but ultimately, timing right now didn’t allow for it to work out,” an insider said, “Their friends would not be disappointed if Ben and Ana revisited their relationship down the line.”

There were also talks that the couple broke up because Ben Affleck wasn’t ready to start a new family, stating that his focus was currently on his 3 kids, which was asking a lot from de Armas who was 32 at the time.
