Find out what Andy shared about his controversial remarks. And learn how the Real Housewives honcho finally winced at his own cringe-worthy comments. Get all the details below.

Andy Cohen – Tries To Backtrack Jen Shah Defense Comments

Real Housewives exec producer Andy Cohen loves to ask his reality TV stars the tough questions. But when the tables got turned, the Watch What Happens Live host couldn’t get out of an awkward spot. And it all happened over recently sentenced Jen Shah. Because Cohen seemed to defend the Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City (RHOSLC) star, he needed to answer some tough questions from CNN interviewer Chris Wallace, noted Page Six.

And specifically, Wallace wanted to know why Cohen hoped that Shah would receive zero jail time. But Andy tried to wiggle his way out of the hot seat. And he claimed that he hoped she would turn out innocent.

However, Wallace pointed out that Cohen made those comments after the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star entered a guilty plea to orchestrating a national telemarketing scam. “You’re on the record, last November, as saying that you hoped she would get no jail time. And the question I have is: Why would you take her side against the thousands of people she defrauded, including a lot of elderly [people]?” asked Wallace.

Andy Cohen – Winces In Embarrassment

Cohen actually seemed to cringe as he heard what he said. But Andy attempted to explain. And he tried out an explanation of “hoping that she was actually innocent.” But Wallace pointed out that made no sense. And the interviewer noted that Jen “pleaded guilty!” Oops.

However, Andy tried one more time to wiggle his way out of a tough space. And he attempted to claim that he hoped Jen would escape jail time prior to knowing that she pleaded guilty. But Wallace made that defense seem ridiculous. And Cohen just kept making himself look more foolish.

“That was before she pleaded guilty, I mean, that I said that, I would think?” stammered Andy. “No,” Wallace corrected the Real Housewives exec producer. And when Cohen realized it happened after, he gave up in humiliation.

“Oh, really?” winced Andy. “Um, anyway! Wow, this is fun,” he mocked himself. And Cohen finally walked back his comments. Because Wallace pointed out that Jen deserved prison, Andy finally agreed, “Yes, she did. And so, she should go to jail.”

Because of her prison sentence, it appears that Shah will do just that. However, the Real Housewives star received what some saw as a surprisingly minimal sentence of six-and-a-half years in a federal prison. And she lived up to her reputation by celebrating that afterwards at an Italian celebrity hot spot in New York City. She could have received a maximum of 14 years in prison. But on February 17, Shah will head from her home to begin her shorter sentence.
