Karen Huger recently made headlines when she was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison with one year suspended for her March DUI arrest.
Andy Cohen Slams Drunk Driving, Says It’s “No Joke”
Andy Cohen’s thoughts are with Karen Huger, but not with her actions. The Bravo host officially broke his silence on the shocking arrest during the March 3 episode of his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live.
“I haven’t been on since Karen was sentenced, and I don’t have much to say,” he began. “I will say, I am thinking of Karen every day. I’ve been thinking about her a lot, and I’m so sad about this. I’m so sad about how this entire thing is played out. I am a Karen fan. Drunk driving is no joke. It’s so bad, so that this was her fourth situation was tough to hear.”
“I’m not surprised that the judge was not playing. I’m not surprised at all, he continued, adding, “I mean, it’s so sad.”
His reaction came mere days after a judge ordered the ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star to spend a year behind bars for her DUI arrest last year.
Cohen added: “And then hearing what I heard on the reunion last night from Gizelle [Bryant], who said that she heard that she was offered a plea and home confinement for six months — who were her lawyers that were recommending to go to trial on this when they knew there was body cam footage like that? I mean, it’s so sad.”
The bodycam footage he was referring to was from March 2024, where a clearly intoxicated Huger stumbled and slurred her words right in front of the arresting officers.
Later on, she would admit to having a couple of beers, before name-dropping President Thomas Jefferson and Andy Cohen at the police station.
She was charged with “DUI, DWI, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life, and person, as well as recklessly driving a vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for the safety of persons and property” and others. A Montgomery County jury found her guilty on five of six charges that were filed against her.
Despite this, Huger is still expected to appear in “Real Housewives of Potomac” Season 10. The first nine seasons are available to stream on Peacock.
