Angelina Jolie To Star In Thrilling Biopic Of Legendary Opera Singer Maria Callas

The Queen of Hollywood is very giving, make no mistake about that. If you’re staring at your screen wondering when Angelina Jolie will thrill you with another epic movie, well, the answer is very soon.

The “Eternals” actress is certainly not slowing down. 2022 is not yet over and she’s already gifted us with three blockbusters, including the Marvel box office hit “Eternals”. She really is the gift that keeps on giving.

“Maria” Director Pablo Larraín Calls Angelina Jolie “Supremely Brave”

The biopic “Maria” will explore the legendary soprano Maria Callas’ personal and professional life.

Her passions, dreams, expectations and heartbreaks will play into this epic glimpse into one of entertainment’s most iconic singers.

Directed by Pablo Larraín, the script is written by Steven Knight, who is known for his work on “Spencer”: a reimagining of the last holiday Princess Diana spent with her royal inlaws at Sandringham Castle.

Per a report released by Variety, Maria “tells the tumultuous, beautiful, and tragic story of the life of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris.”

Speaking on getting to work with Angelina Jolie, Larraín said: “Having the chance to combine my two most deep and personal passions, cinema and opera, has been a long-awaited dream. To do this with Angelina, a supremely brave and curious artist, is a fascinating opportunity. A true gift.”

Angelina Jolie – Promises To Give Her All “To Meet the Challenge” Of Playing A Renowned Diva

Angelina Jolie has spent almost three decades in the entertainment industry, but when it comes to a person giving their all for a project, look no further than our dear own Lara Croft.

“I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy,” Angelina Jolie stated. “I will give all I can to meet the challenge.”

At a time when opera singers can become household names, Callas scaled the heights to become a “globally renowned diva”.

Even though the American-born Greek-based Callas was married to wealthy industrialist Giovanni Battista Meneghini from 1949 to 1959, her most notable relationship was with shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, and according to posthumous letters, he subjected Callas to domestic violence and assault.

Later on, Onassis would go on to marry Jacqueline Kennedy, making “Maria” a second entry in Larraín’s “Jackie” cinematic universe.
