Angelina Jolie Would Give Up Her Career If It Interfered With Her Job As A Mother

As a mother to six children, Angelina Jolie will always put motherhood above all else, including her successful career as an A-list actress. During her latest promotional chat for her biopic ‘Maria,’ the actress talked about the importance of motherhood in her life.

Angelina Jolie sat down with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America to discuss her latest biopic, ‘Maria,’ where she did her own singing. While she prioritized training her voice to be able to nail the role, she revealed that she never let her role as a mother sit in the backburner.

“It’s my happiness,” Jolie told Strahan. “You can take everything else away from me. Nothing else matters.”

Jolie shares six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt; Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Knox and Vivienne, 16-year-old twins. While Jolie was the star of ‘Maria,’ it really did take a family effort to get it to where it needed to be.

For example, her two eldest children did assistant directing work on the movie. Working with her “extremely private” children on the movie was something the “Those Who Wish Me Dead” star called “amazing.”

However, Maddox and Pax working on the movie wasn’t all the attention that the Jolie-Pitt children would give their mother in that quarter. “All of my children suffered through my early opera singing in the house before I got kinda good, which was a nightmare,” Jolie revealed.

As for the children, Jolie revealed that they’re averse to the spotlight, especially coming from two A-lister parents: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. “They’re quite private. Shiloh’s extremely private,” she said. “They weren’t born with privacy, right? So I hope they can have that as they grow.”

It was also a meaningful experience to have her two eldest brought in on the Pablo Larráin project, as they learned some useful skills. “Pax tends to do stills and he gets brought in, and Pablo was wonderful and recognized that he was good at it.”

The reason why Jolie is pacing her roles in Hollywood is her determination to spend more time with her children. But now that they’re older, she’s very enthusiastic about returning full-time to her passion. “And they’re old enough to join me at work. It’s a new season in our lives. I’m very excited for them to be coming into their own more and more every day,” she added.
