Talk about a celebrity true crime investigative journalist, and the name Ashleigh Banfield immediately comes to mind. Did you know that she recently briefly disppeared off NewsNation’s Banfield? Well, she wasn’t very long gone, and now she’s returned. Read on for more details.

Relying On Her Own Podcast For A Bit

In her recent coverage of current true crime stories like Michael McKee on her Drop Dead Serious podcast, Ashleigh started asking for interactions, subscribers, and crime story ideas. Several times, she hinted that she’s on her own now. So, she asked folks to be patient with her promos during her podcast.

Well, what made folks do a double take on Friday this week, was the fact that NewsNation turned up with Ashleigh Banfield in the driver’s seat again after the channel did about 120 vidoes without her face on them. She’d mentioned the end of her Banfield show about 13 days ago, but confirmed it when more coverage recapped some of the clues in the Monique Tepe murders involving her ex, Michael McKee.

The Collab Announcement

A collab announcement arrived during  a new episode on News Nation titled Crime scene clues shift Ohio murder mystery – Drop Dead Serious. Forensic criminalist Dr. Laura Pettler joined the celebrity true crime journo to discuss crime scene and motive points regarding Michael McKee. But in her introduction, she told her followers:

Hey, NewsNation YouTube viewers. I’m super excited to bring you Drop Dead Serious. If you’ve been watching my podcast over on Drop Dead Serious, I’m bringing it to you here on News Nation as well. We’ve got a great collaboration that’s going. And uh I’m super excited that we’re doing this and that you’re here for it.

Ashleigh’s own podcast gets a collab – YouTube

Next, Ashleigh Banfield explained that “this is only the beginning. You’re going to see regular content on the NewsNation YouTube channel.” Then she proudly announced, “without further ado, this is Drop Dead Serious on News Nation’s YouTube channel.”

Ashleigh reported on NewsNation’s Banfield for a while before she disappeared so briefly. Plus, she ran her own podcast separately. So, why is the new collab such a win for her? Well, it’s a big game-changer for her. Basically, it turns a creator from the “indie” lane into mainstream.

Big Algorithm Shift

In other words, the news channel effectively gives the creator a big stamp of approval, and that’s a huge shortcut. After all, if a news outlet puts their name to a podcast, it improves the algorithm, and solidifies the creator’s trust with viewers.

Additionally, because of the way YouTube works, the episodes can air on both channels. Imagine if you had a vlog about 90 Day Fiancé and suddenly, you ended up under your own podcast name on E! News on YouTube? It’s kind of something like that. So, that’s why the celeb true crime reporter wears a huge smile right now.

An Amazing Career

Certainly, Ashleigh Banfield deserves the new collab. Did you know that the Canadian-American started her career forty years ago? Per TV Insider, “Banfield’s career took off at MSNBC, where she became widely recognized for her coverage of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.”
