Ashley Judd Met The Man Who Raped Her For “Restorative Justice Conversation”

Ashley Judd Met The Man Who Raped Her For "Restorative Justice Conversation"So many people have different ways of healing. Some heal through therapy, some heal by outrightly letting go, while some heal by being in denial which is not an advisable method of healing. Others heal by confronting that which has scared them head-on. Ashley Judd belongs to the later part.

Ashley was a guest on the “Healing with David Kessler” podcast, so, on Tuesday, July 26, Ashley revealed how she met with the man who raped her in the year 1999 and had a long discussion with him.

Ashley Judd — On How She Had A “Restorative Justice Conversation” With Her Rapist.

Being a victim of rape is not a piece of cake, that experience will most definitely scar you for life, you don’t get to forget that in a hurry no matter how long ago it happened, all you can do is find a way to heal from that incident, and move on. Ashley found a way to do that.

Ashley said she had to search for the person that raped her in the year 1999 and surprisingly he wasn’t hard to find. When Ashley found him, she said she had a nice chat with him to the extent that they ended up sitting “in rocking chairs sitting by a creek together.” Ashley said she had to ask the man the type of story he has been using all those years because she was really interested in knowing.

Ashley explained her reason for sharing the story, she said it’s because healing comes in different ways and she wanted listeners to know that she didn’t need anything from the man and that in the end, the man was remorseful of his action. “I didn’t need anything from him and it was just gravy that he made his amends and expressed his deep remorse, because healing from grief is an inside job.”

Ashley Judd – Is A Three-Time Rape Survivor

Ashley must have really questioned what it was she did that would warrant those irreparable damages being done to her during that period. Ashley’s experience as a rape victim wouldn’t be wished on anyone no matter how bad you think that person is. I give it up for Ashley for being this strong. In 2019, Ashley revealed that she has been a victim of rape for their consecutive times and she had survived all.

We can’t imagine what that period must have been like for Ashley. Ashley’s revelation came when she was campaigning for abortion rights. She said that she once got pregnant during one of those rape incidents, had it not been for the abortion she had, by now she would have been co-parenting her child with a rapist. “I’m very thankful I was able to access safe and legal abortion, because the rapist, who is a Kentuckian, as am I, and I reside in Tennessee, has paternity rights in Kentucky and Tennessee. I would’ve had to co-parent with my rapist.”
