Ashton Kutcher And Mila Kunis Deny Letters Supporting Danny Masterson Were Meant To Undermine Justice

If you’ve read the recently leaked letters Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis wrote in support of Danny Masterson, you’ll know that the man was short of a saint from their description.

Kutcher described Masterson as someone who wouldn’t stand for the abuse of ladies, a present father and a trustworthy friend.

Kunis praised him for being a most loyal friend and a positive influence on her character. Both credited him for their drug-free lifestyle.

This was all written before Masterson was found guilty of raping two women and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Here’s what they have to say now.

There are things you can’t take back in life, the most you can do is to provide context to it, and this is what Kunis and her husband Kutcher did with their video apology.

While Kutcher and Kunis are the ones currently being dragged around for writing a glowing letter of support for Danny Masterson, it’s important to note that they weren’t the only celebrities who wrote to the judge.

Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith are two other co-stars from “That 70’s Show” that threw their support behind Masterson.

After Masterson’s Thursday sentence for raping two women 20 years ago, the letters were published on Substack by the journalists who had covered the trial.

“I do not believe he is an ongoing harm to society,” Kutcher wrote in the July 27-dated letter, going on to note that it would be “tertiary injustice in and of itself having his daughter raised without a present father.”

In a recorded statement released on their Instagram pages on Saturday, Kunis and Kutcher revealed that their intentions were never to subvert justice, as the letters “were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling.”

“They were intended for the judge to read,” Kutcher said. “And not to undermine the testimony of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way. We would never want to do that and we’re sorry if that has taken place.”

Kutcher and Kunis probably particularly dwelled on his criticisms of drug to counter the victims’ claims that Masterson had drugged and raped them at his home in the Hollywood Hills section of Los Angeles between 2001 and 2003.

For this reason, Kutcher said that he and Kunis were “aware of the pain that has been caused” by the letters. Kunis then added, “Our heart goes out to every single person who’s ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse or rape.”

The couple then blamed the Masterson family for making them write the letters “to represent the person that we knew for 25 years, so that the judge could take that into full consideration relative to the sentencing.”

Even though they turned off comments on the apology post, several of their recent posts were flooded with criticisms from fans, who specifically cite Kutcher’s ongoing work as an anti-trafficking supporter as reason he shouldn’t have done what he did.
