This is exactly what Ashton Kutcher did during he and co-star Reese Witherspoon‘s movie premiere in Los Angeles. Ashton Kutcher appeared on a podcast guest spot on Wednesday to explain the reason for his awkwardness when he walked the red carpet with Reese Witherspoon. Last week, Kutcher, 45, and Witherspoon, 46, attended the premiere of their Netflix rom-com “Your Place or Mine”.

As the costars walked the red carpet, fans noticed that Kutcher kept a straight face, with his hands in his pockets, while he stood next to a smiling Witherspoon.

“Here’s the thing: If I put my arm around her, and was like all friendly with her, I’d be having an affair with her,” Kutcher told the host of “Chicks in the Office” podcast.

In fact, the off-key chemistry was so obvious that Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher’s wife, poked fun at it. In a previous appearance, Witherspoon opened up about receiving a text from her friend Kunis, 39, over her and Kutcher’s lack of chemistry. “She even emailed us last night,” she said on Today the day after the premiere. “She goes, ‘You guys look so awkward on the red carpet together.’ “
