This generally means that most of us don’t survive the holidays without gaining some weight. So, what used to be a fun-filled December can quickly turn into a grim January for some of us, and Bebe Rexha is here to say that you’re not alone.
Bebe Rexha Bares Her Heart On TikTok – “I Just Feel Disgusting”
Bebe Rexha tearfully revealed the reason she’s abstained from coming online often during an emotional TikTok video.
The 32-year-old has always been a strong advocate for body positivity and not “tryna be like everybody else”. And while she’s done “hating pictures” of herself, she still struggles with feeling good in her skin.
“So it is the holidays and I know we’re all supposed to be, like, merry and like, ‘Yay, it’s the holidays,’ which I am — ish,” she began the video.
Rexha then revealed that she’s the “heaviest” she’s ever been, continuing: “I weighed myself just now, and I don’t feel comfortable sharing the weight ’cause I feel embarrassed.”
She emotionally added: “I just feel disgusting, you know, like in my own body.”
The “Last Hurrah” singer then talked about how her weight gain forced her to take a break from social media.
“I haven’t been posting as much because I don’t feel good in my skin and when I don’t feel good, I don’t want to post and that’s really honestly the reason I haven’t been posting in the last year or so as much as I used to. I think all the body positivity that stems from me is probably a place of hurt and confusion,” she said, adding, “I don’t know how to help myself anymore or how to love myself.”
I’ve got no better words to cheer Bebe up with, rather than the ones she sang: “be comfortable with” yourself.
Bebe Rexha On Body Positivity And Normalizing “165 Ibs”
Bebe’s TikTok clip comes after she posted a message for anyone “feeling down” during the holidays. The popstar shared the tweet on Dec. 21, writing: “To the person who is feeling down this holiday season, you got this and you will get through. Sending you love.”
Rexha has been open about her struggles with weight, a reality which encouraged her to empower people to feel safe and happy in their body, regardless of how slim or how fat they are.
In July, she posted a TikTok of herself in lingerie dancing to Nicki Minaj’s “Good Form”.
“How much do you think I weigh? No one’s business,” she wrote in text over the video. “Cause I’m a bad b— no matter what my weight. But let’s normalize 165 lbs.”
