According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, the actor’s birthday was exactly what he had hoped for—a simple and private affair. “It’s exactly what he wanted,” the source said. “He didn’t want to go out to celebrate. The kids had gifts for him, and it was cute.” Jennifer Lopez, 55, stopped by briefly to congratulate him.

Affleck spent his birthday at his rental home in Brentwood, California. Earlier in the day, his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, was spotted visiting the residence.

Photos obtained by Page Six captured Garner arriving at the home, while later images from the Daily Mail showed Lopez leaving the property shortly after Garner’s visit.
