Bill Gates’ Children Will Inherit This Unbelievable Amount of Money From His Impressive Net Worth

Bill Gates' Children Will Inherit This Unbelievable Amount of Money From His Impressive Net WorthBill Gates has a strict philosophy on how he wants his wealth to be distributed, and sadly, he doesn’t think his kids are the only ones entitled to get a piece of his very impressive pie. In his reasoning, societal causes are as important as setting your children up for their future.

Here’s what he has to say about how he plans to share his wealth amongst his children.

Bill Gates Says Giving His Kids Most of His Money “Wouldn’t Favor Them”

Bill Gates shares three children with ex Melinda French Gates – daughters Jennifer, 28, and Phoebe, 22, and son Rory, 25. So how much will they be getting from their father when he dies, you may be wondering.

Well, not as much as you think, but definitely more than our brains can comprehend, I can tell you that.

During his recent appearance on the podcast Figuring Out with Raj Shamani, he shared that it’s his philosophy and in his children’s best interests that he doesn’t leave them with too much money.

“In my case, my kids got a great upbringing and education, but [they will get] less than 1 percent of the total wealth, because I decided it wouldn’t be a favor to them,” he revealed.

You hear “less than 1 percent” and you think, quite a low number, right? Well, the man’s currently worth $102.2 billion according to Forbes’ 2025 World’s Billionaire List, so that one percent comes out at about $1 billion each. Wishing he was your old man now, aren’t ya?

At the moment, the Microsoft co-founder has fallen to number thirteen, after enjoying several years as the world’s richest man. However, he isn’t bothered by this. Not really. And if you keep reading, you’re going to discover why.

Back to the children thing, Gates doesn’t believe in making Microsoft a dynasty or even training one of his kids to replace him in the company in his absence.

“It’s not a dynasty. I’m not asking them to run Microsoft,” he explained on the podcast. “I wanna give them a chance to have their own earnings and success, be significant and not overshadowed by the incredible luck and good fortune I had.”

You’d think, do the kids know their father is planning to give away most of his money to charitable causes? “You don’t want your kids to ever be confused about your support for them and your love for them,” Gates clarified, adding, “So I do think, explaining early on your philosophy that you’re gonna treat them all equally, and that you’re gonna give them incredible opportunities, but that the highest calling for these resources is to go back to the neediest through the foundation, [was important].”

Bill Gates Wants To Drop Down the List of the World’s Richest People

In his interview with CNN in 2024, he talked about his decision to give most of his wealth away to charitable causes, revealing that he’s currently giving money away at a rate of $9 billion a year.

“I have more than enough money for my own consumption,” Bill said at the time. “I’m getting myself to go down the list, and I’ll be proud when I fall off altogether.”

It takes a very rich man to say these words, so I formerly partition to be added to Bill Gates’ charitable causes. No, I’m not even joking here.
