Blake Shelton Shares New Year Resolution: “Stop Drinking”

2024 is going to be a healthier year for Blake Shelton if he can stick to his New Year Resolution. Hopefully, this New Year will finally be the year he sticks to the resolution enough for it to make a difference in his life.

Blake Shelton Says “Cutting Back” On Drinking Has Been Hard For Him

Are you already making New Year resolutions, because Shelton, 47, is way ahead of the curve this year. He’s already locked in the one thing he wants to leave behind this year.

In his interview with Entertainment Tonight, published on Thursday, the country star shared the New Year resolution that he’s been unable to fulfil in the previous years.

“I haven’t managed to stop drinking yet,” said Shelton. “Even cutting back has been hard. I mean, it’s a resolution though. And I’ll say it again right now — that’s my New Year’s resolution. To either cut back or stop drinking altogether. Let’s just say I said it.”

Apart from resolutions, Shelton has already determined what he’d be doing on New Year’s Eve. “If we’re at home during New Year’s Eve, we’re probably going to bed before it even happens,” he said.

Blake Shelton On Being A Stepparent To Gwen Stefani’s Sons

On July 3, 2021, Stefani and Shelton tied the knot at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch with Stefani’s three sons — Kingston, 17, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 9 — in attendance. Stefani welcomed the boys with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, who is also a musician.

Last month, Blake revealed that being a stepparent is challenging in an interview with TODAY.

“I’ve had stepparents,” Shelton said. “I think it’s, in some ways, harder, more difficult. I try to be careful about when to step back and be smart about when to step back and just talk, but no matter what, I’m always there if I’m needed.”

Talking to PEOPLE in another interview, he said that he takes his job as a stepparent very seriously.

“Even though I’m a stepparent, I take that job very seriously. The kids see me as a very important person in their life,” he told the outlet at the time. “[When they ask,] ‘Why isn’t Blake here?’ I take that stuff to heart. I’ve made plenty of money, but you can’t buy time back. I don’t want any regrets.”
