Blake Shelton – Shut Down Gwen Stefani

Blake Shelton admitted that he didn’t want to perform with Gwen Stefani. Back in 2016, he performed a medley of his hit songs along with his fellow country musicians for the Country Jam 16, which was held in Colorado. It featured heading acts such as Brad Paisley and the Zac Brown Band.

This was a personal milestone for Blake, who was turning 40 at the time. Gwen joined him on stage as a surprise.

Blake realized that he made a mistake in performing with her. He didn’t realize that she would end up becoming the star of the show. At one point, Blake debated not performing with the pop star.

“I’m doing my normal, you know, what I think is rockin’. Standing up there with my acoustic guitar in front of my stand and singing my songs,” Blake Shelton told Chelsea, per Taste of Country. “I had my band work up one of her songs, ‘Hella Good.’ And I thought, ‘Man, that’d be so cool to have her come out and surprise.’ It’s the worst thing I could have done because all it did was make me look terrible.”

The couple performed their duet “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” Gwen stole the show when she performed her No Doubt songs. Blake was surprised about the reaction to her performance. The 40,000 attendees went wild for Gwen.

Blake And Gwen Stefani – Write Songs Via Text

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been living separate lives lately. However, they still make time to collaborate. They created the song “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” via text. Both went through public breakups.

Blake ended his long-term marriage to Miranda Lambert, while Gwen was recovering from her shocking split from her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.

“We wrote a song together probably the first month we started talking or hanging out,” Gwen told Variety. “It was when we were like, ‘This is not gonna happen. What are we doing? We’re instance. We’re both broken. We’ve got to figure our lives out.’ He wrote this verse and sent it to me: ‘Help me finish this song.’ I wrote a verse and sent it back to him. We were just basically texting at that point.”

They eventually recorded the song together. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton went on to release many duets along the way. Their most recent is “Purple Irises,” which they dropped in February.
