Judge John Ouderkirk’s ruling awarded Brad Pitt more time with the former couple’s five minor children, but Angelina Jolie made sure it was flushed down the toilet. She argued that the judge was personally connected with Brad Pitt and so was not the right person to handle the case, and though she filed for his removal last November, she only recently succeeded in removing him from the case.

Ouderkirk presided over Pitt and Jolie’s 2014 nuptials at their family’s French estate Château Miraval. He was one of just twenty people in attendance at the very intimate wedding.

Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie News – Court Declares Judge John Ouderkirk’s Ruling As Void

According to an opinion submitted by three appellate judges on Friday, the judge handling Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s ongoing custody case will be disqualified after he was found to have “violated his ethical obligations.”

Judge Ouderkirk previously awarded Pitt, 57, more time with his five minor children, whom he shares with actress Angelina Jolie, but the ruling is now void after an open court of appeals hearing on July 9. This basically means that the custody arrangement has automatically reverted back to the Nov. 2018 agreement.

The victory went to Jolie after the 2nd District Court of Appeal in California agreed with the famous actress that Ouderkirk was not fully forthcoming about his business relationships with Pitt’s attorneys.

“Judge Ouderkirk’s ethical breach, considered together with the information disclosed concerning his recent professional relationships with Pitt’s counsel, might cause an objective person, aware of all the facts, reasonably to entertain a doubt as to the judge’s ability to be impartial. Disqualification is required,” the court ruled.

While Jolie’s team hasn’t commented on the new ruling yet, a spokesperson for Brad Pitt told PEOPLE, “The appeals court ruling was based on a technical procedural issue. The facts haven’t changed. There is an extraordinary amount of factual evidence which led the judge—and the many experts who testified—to reach their clear conclusion about what is in the children’s best interests. We will continue to do what’s necessary legally based on the detailed findings of what’s best for the children.”

Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie – Brad Pitt Loses Ruling To Spend More Time With His Kids

At the time of the previous ruling, a source close to Pitt said that the multi-award winning actor “has always wanted what is best for the kids, and to spend time with them.”

Ouderkirk’s ruling would have allowed Pitt to spend more time with his five minor kids: Pax,17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 12. Maddox, 19, the former couple’s eldest child is no longer a part of the custody case.

“A few weeks ago, the judge’s decision came down after a month-long trial,” the insider said. “Brad has been awarded significantly more time with the kids. He had had very limited time before.”

The insider further explained that the court’s decision was reached after hearing testimony from “witnesses, experts, people who have been with the kids. The children’s voices were heard, but they just didn’t testify themselves.”

For 12 years, Jolie, 46, and Pitt were considered one of Hollywood’s most popular couples. However, two years after the stars tied the knot, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016. In 2019, they were declared single even though they are still battling other issues like finances and child custody.
