Brad Pitt Not Rooting Against Angelina Jolie, While She Finds Their Ongoing Divorce Incredibly Sad

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s divorce remains unresolved after nearly eight years since Jolie filed for separation, which continues to astonish those close to the former couple.

According to a source close to Pitt, it’s quite surprising that the two haven’t yet reached a settlement and finalized their divorce.

The two actors, who got married in a private ceremony in Correns, France, on August 23, 2014, separated after a decade together, with Jolie filing for divorce on September 20, 2016, just two years after their marriage.

Their Contrasting Parenting Styles Was A Source of Tension

The couple’s differing parenting styles were a significant source of tension, according to a source who explained that Pitt and Jolie had contrasting life perspectives, influenced by their different upbringings—Pitt outside of Hollywood and Jolie within it.

This difference extended to how they wanted to raise their six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Pitt sought a structured environment and education for the kids, while Jolie wanted them to explore their passions and interests. Despite the tension, the source noted that Pitt is proud of how “free-spirited, super smart, and artsy” his children have become.

“They always had different approaches to life just in general,” notes the source, highlighting that Pitt didn’t grow up in Hollywood, whereas Jolie did. “This applied to the kids too. Brad wanted a structured life for them with a set education curriculum. Angie wanted them all to find themselves and to figure out what excited them and sparked passion.” The source adds, “One can say this parenting approach won. The kids are free-spirited, super smart, and artsy. Brad is very proud though.”

Their legal disputes have continued over the years, with ongoing battles over custody and finances, as well as a separate lawsuit involving their French winery, Château Miraval.

One insider expressed hope that the two could at least resolve the matrimonial aspects of their separation while the Miraval case progresses.

Jolie and Pitt Share Their New Focus

During this prolonged conflict, both actors have moved forward in their careers, with recent appearances at the Venice Film Festival highlighting their continued presence in the film industry.

Jolie was there to promote her new film “Maria,” and Pitt attended with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, for the premiere of his thriller “Wolfs.” The festival’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, confirmed that their events were scheduled separately to avoid any potential encounters.

Jolie addressed the media at a press conference for “Maria,” relating herself to the real-life opera singer Maria Callas, whom she portrays in the film. She described her connection to Callas’s vulnerability and emotional openness, which resonated with her on a personal level.

Friends and insiders remain “shocked” by the protracted nature of Pitt and Jolie’s divorce, and many hope that the two can eventually “get on the same page” and reach a resolution, particularly regarding the ongoing Miraval case. This legal battle centers on the Château Miraval estate and winery, which the couple purchased in 2012 for $60 million.

After their split, Jolie sold her share of the winery to the Stoli Group, a move that Pitt claims was intended to “inflict harm” on him.
