Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are litigating again, this time it’s over the sale of their winery in France.
According to Pop Culture, Pitt filed a suit against Jolie this week accusing the Tomb Raider star of selling her shares, to a Russian Oligarch, without his knowledge. The Mr. And Mrs. Smith stars were married at that winery in 2014, Jolie subsequently filed for divorce just two years hence. The formerly famous Hollywood couple has been embroiled in a custody battle over their six children since the divorce.

Bradd Pitt Credits Himself For The Winery’s Success, Says Angelina Jolie Lost Interest
Jolie, 46, and Pitt, 58, bought the winery together back in 2008. According to TMZ, the Interview with a Vampire star states in the lawsuit that he has been investing heavily into the winery for years. Jolie paid 40% of the $28.4 million purchase price of the winery but Pitt claims it was he that made the winery a success since, by 2013, Jolie had lost interest in the endeavor.
According to TMZ, Brad Pitt claims there was an agreement between the By the Sea stars that neither could sell their shares without the other’s acquiescence. A source close to the Ad Astra star told the outlet that this was just another example of Jolie” disregarding her legal and ethical obligations.”
The source said that Jolie’s actions “violated the rights of the only person who poured money and sweat equity into the success of the business” by “purporting to sell” the couple’s business, as well as their home to a third-party competitor.
Winery Takes Center Stage In Custody Battle
The winery was in the spotlight during the Megamind star’s messy, ongoing custody battle in July of 2021. That’s when Jolie told the judge she had reached an agreement to sell the winery. Pitt later agreed for her to investigate selling her interest but had not yet consented to any sale.
Brad Pitt claims that he heard of the sale, out of the blue, in October. The Cool World star accused his ex-wife of making the sale to Russian oligarch, Yuri Shefler, behind his back. Pitt further argues that, since the sale, Sheffler has made running the winery difficult.

Custody Battle, Six Years And Still Going
The couple, formerly known as Brangelina, met on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith back in 2005 following Pitt’s divorce from Jennifer Aniston from Friends. They didn’t get married until August of 2014 at Chateau Miraval. Jolie filed for divorce two years later in September 2016.
Though the divorce was finalized in 2019 the two are still battling over the custody of their six children, Maddox, 20; Pax, 18; Zahara, 17; Shiloh, 15; and 13-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
