Susan Olsen, known for her role as Cindy Brady on The Brady Bunch, recently revealed on the WalkAway Campaign podcast that a planned revival of the iconic sitcom was scrapped because of her support for Donald Trump and her controversial political views.

Now 63, Olsen detailed that the reboot was in the works at CBS Studios, featuring her and her fellow cast members as adults, with Olsen portraying a libertarian podcaster. She expressed excitement about the show’s treatment, likening it to the successful reboot of Roseanne.

However, Olsen stated that CBS raised concerns after learning of a 2016 incident in which she reportedly sent anti-gay remarks to actor Leon Acord-Whiting following his appearance on her political radio show, LA Talk Radio’s Two Chicks Talkin’ Politics.

This incident led to her termination from the radio station, which issued a statement emphasizing its intolerance for hateful speech.

Misrepresented Details Surrounding Olsen’s Firing

Despite the backlash, Olsen claimed the details surrounding her firing were misrepresented, asserting that she wasn’t directly let go but voluntarily stepped away from her show. She agreed to undertake a course in “political correctness,” hoping it might mend fences with CBS.

However, Olsen alleged that CBS later compiled a document containing “50 pages of dangerous statements” she had made in the past, which ultimately resulted in her exclusion from the reboot. She remarked, “Those 50 pages were like my greatest hits. I stand by everything I said.”

During discussions about her return to the show, Olsen described a Zoom meeting with the showrunner and producer, where she felt she was subjected to an “inquisition.” They questioned her positions on various contemporary issues, leading her to express her discontent.

Olsen Reveals She Has No More Interest  in The Reboot

After her agent hinted at a potential workaround to bring her back into the fold, Olsen firmly declined, stating, “At this point, you’re going to have a woke Brady Bunch, and I want no part of it.”

Olsen ultimately characterized the reboot as now “dead in the water,” prompting her to share her experience publicly. She initially refrained from speaking out in hopes that the revival might still go ahead with her former co-stars.

In addition to her original role in The Brady Bunch, Olsen reprised her character in various subsequent series, including The Brady Kids, The Brady Bunch Hour, and The Bradys. She also reunited with her co-stars in the 2019 HGTV reality series A Very Brady Renovation, where the iconic house from the original show was renovated.

CBS Studios declined to comment on the situation when approached by media outlets.
