Shannon Lee – Remembers Her Brother Fondly On Thirtieth Anniversary Of His Death

In 1993, Brandon Lee lost his life as a result of an onset accident. He was survived by his mother and sister, and in the thirtieth anniversary of his death, she is remembering her dear brother whose life was cut “too short.”

“I cannot believe it has been 30 years,” Shannon said in a video message shared to martial arts’ icon father Bruce Lee’s official Twitter page. “But here’s what I have to say: His beauty, his soul, his intelligence, his creativity is still alive with us, here with us. We are going to be finding ways to celebrate him and bring him further into the consciousness this year and every year going forward.”

“Brandon, we love you,” Shannon continued. “We miss you so much. And we celebrate your life today. That is what today is.”

She went on to add, “It is a celebration of your life, which was beautiful. Too short, but beautiful and important. And we miss you. So please think of Brandon today. Join in celebrating his life.”

At the beginning of the video message, we see a footage of an archival interview that shows Brandon speaking about his experiences hitchhiking to the Tassajara Buddhist monastery, before it transitioned into Shannon’s heartfelt message.

Brandon Lee died when an object was fired by a co-star using a prop gun on the set of “The Crow.” Even though an investigation was launched, the production company behind the movie was not charged.

In the years after Brandon’s tragic death, Shannon has been a staunch advocate for the necessary banning of live weapons onset, notably backing a Los Angeles Times editorial that called for banning guns on movie sets in January following the “Rust” shooting.

This July 20 also marks 50 years since the legendary Bruce Lee died at the age of 32.
