Britney Spears’ Memoir Lands Major Production Deal

Britney Spears' Memoir Lands Major Production Deal‘The Woman In Me’ is coming to the screen, and it’s no wonder it was speedily swooped up, especially since it had a wonderful and bestselling run when it hit the shelves last year.

Director Jon M. Chu To Produce Britney Spears’ Memoir Into A Feature Film

Britney Spears may have exited the music industry – and according to her she doesn’t plan on returning – but interest in her life and her time in the spotlight is yet to subside.

As someone wisely quoted, “the world will always want a piece of Britney Spears.”

The latest piece is coming in the form of a biopic treatment. Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to adapt the bestselling memoir into a feature film, with director Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and producer Marc Platt (La La Land) attached to develop.

Britney shared the good news with fans on X, writing, “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with Marc Platt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned.”

Already, fans are running wild with guesses on who could portray the iconic “Circus” hitmaker onscreen.

Sabrina Carpenter and Sydney Sweeney are the top contenders, with ‘Stranger Things’ actress Millie Bobby Brown and Canadian singer Tate McRae making the list.

The 20-year-old actress had formerly opened up about her dream to play Britney Spears in a movie.

“I want to play a real person and I think for me, Britney … [It] would be Britney Spears. I think her story, first of all, resonates with me,” Millie Bobby Brown told host Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2022.

“Just growing up in the public eye watching her videos, watching interviews of how when she was younger. I mean, same thing with you,” the actress continued at the time. “I see the scramble for words [in her interviews] and I don’t know her, but when I look at pictures of her, I feel like I could tell her story in the right way and hers only.”
