New year, new name? Britney Spears didn’t want to wait to ring in the new year before changing her name. And so she used her new favorite method of communicating with fans to share the switch. But Britney also sparked concern with her unusual social media post, noted OK magazine.

And the concern existed for several reasons. First, the songstress, 41, stood in the shower to film her announcement. And she held her cleavage as the water poured over her. But second, fans felt shocked when she shared she suddenly changed her name.

“Changed my name to Brooklyn 😜🙈 !!!” Spears announced in her video. However, Britney didn’t offer an explanation for her decision. And she also didn’t clarify if she wants to drop her last name and, like Madonna or Cher, just become known by a single name.

However, while fans tried to understand why Britney would change her name, some focused their attention on her husband Sam Asghari. Ever since Sam and Britney tied the knot in June, fans have noticed that he shares pics of himself alone rather than with his wife. And that concerns some of Spears’ followers. 

For instance, one wrote, “It’s cool as long as your wife is with you. Where’s Britney?” The comment followed one of Sam’s pics on a set. And another demanded, “Where’s Brit Brit ❤️?” However, others noticed that the singer’s husband left his wedding ring at home.

As a result, Sam also got slammed for “no wedding 💍,” as one critic wrote. And another added, “No ring?” Rumors about the state of their marriage have swirled for weeks. And it didn’t help when Sam shared that he wanted to limit what Britney posted on Instagram. For example, Asghari complained that she poses nude too often.

But Britney’s husband explained why he wants his wife to stop going nude in her Instagram pics. And he claimed that she has become “the only person in the world that gets bullied for posting things like this.” However, the 28-year-old added, “I personally preferred she never posted these. But who am I to control someone that’s been under a microscope and been controlled for most of her life.”

Spears’ fans increasingly worry about what her strange social media posts mean. And some feel concerned about mental health implications. For instance, one fan wrote, “Her eyes say she’s not ok. Brit is not free and whoever has this account only serves to publicly shame her. Whoever is running this page is purposely trying to make Britney look unhinged to prevent her from being free.”
